Good morning my friends,

Are you tired? That’s a silly question in the age we live. It seems everyone is tired all the time. It is unhealthy for us to be this tired all the time. We know it but busyness seems to be an addiction for us. We always seem to be on the go or doing something. We often forget the thing God created on the seventh day; rest.

In all of the things that God established he included this thing of rest. Even in agriculture God said that the land needed rest. He even set up the year of redemption, when everything would be returned to its rightful place and owner. Rest is like that for us; when everything is permitted to return to its proper place, its proper perspective. Without rest we lose that perspective and priority of what is important.

God had promised his people rest. He established a Sabbath-rest which is actually a spiritual thing having to do with the provision of salvation. When Jesus walked the earth he said plainly:

"Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy and my burden is light." (Matthew 11:28-30)

God has provided a rest from our spiritual struggles. When he rested on the seventh day it was because there was no more work to be done. He had completed everything that needed to be done, having laid out his plan from beginning to end. So God rested from the work. He now invites us to allow him to conclude the “work” of our soul so that we may enter his rest. It is of this that the author of Hebrews writes:

“There remains, then, a Sabbath-rest for the people of God; for anyone who enters God's rest also rests from his own work, just as God did from his. Let us, therefore, make every effort to enter that rest, so that no one will fall by following their example of disobedience.” (Hebrews 11:9-11)

The world has gone mad over religion and spirituality. Some would say we are a godless society but I believe we are far from it. We are rift with gods and their disciples teaching many false paths to a very simple truth. All of them teach salvation by works. Only Jesus Christ offers a free gift, his rest, which is ours if we choose to accept it. Would anyone blame the rescuer for the death of a drowning man if that man refused help? Then why do we blame God when we refuse to enter his rest that rescues us from all our uncertainties and fears?

“Therefore, since the promise of entering his rest still stands, let us be careful that none of you be found to have fallen short of it.” (Hebrews 11:1)

Let us make sure that we have accepted Jesus invitation; let us make certain that we are living in his rest.
