THE FOOTBALL POOL IS BACK!!!

Post by Ryder »

Well it's that time of year again - football season, and the ToO's 2nd Football Pool! We had a blast with it last year, and hopefully this year will be even better. I know the first game (of the regular season) isn't due to start until Thursday, September 9th, but I wanted to give everyone a head's-up ahead of time. (Just as a reminder, you'll be picking winners from Thursday night's game as well as all the games on Sunday, and the game on Monday night. Here's a link: http://www.nfl.com/schedules?seasonType=REG#Week) Picks for week one of football season should be in no later than 8:29 pm, Sept. 9th. Kickoff is at 8:30. For those of you who played last year, the rules are the same. If you're new to the football pool, the rules are as follows:

Q: What do I do in a football pool?

A: You give ToO dollars to win more ToO dollars.

Q: How much is the entry fee?

A: A mere $5!

Q: Who holds the money?

A: Me, I hold all of the prize money and then give it to the winner when he/she wins. (Or I get to keep it if I win :p!)

Q: Okay, so how do I play?

A: You look at the games for the upcoming week and say who you think is going to win. The person who gets the most games right wins all of the entry money. The best part of all of this is that you really don't even need to know anything about football; you just go to www.nfl.com or www.foxsports.com/nfl, look at the week's games, and guess who you think is going to win.

Q: What if two people tie?

A: Okay, if two people tie with Sunday night football then Monday night will be the tie breaker.

Q: There's only one game on Monday night, what if they both get it right again?

A: Monday night football isn't the same as Sunday night. The two people that are tied are going to have to guess the total combined score of the two teams, but without going over. Say one person guesses that the combined score will be 30, the other person guesses 20, and the real score is 25. Person 2 would automatically win because person 1 went over the real score. (Don't forget, after Sunday's games, to check to see whether or not you've tied so you can get your Monday Night Football Total Combined Score (MNF TCS) in right away. Your score needs to be in before kickoff of Monday's game.) If I am one of the tying contestants, our MNF TCS will be sent to Iron and Light, and in the event that Iron and Light has tied with me, our MNF TCS will be sent to Top (at least that's how we did it last year.) This did not, however, happen very often.

Q: What if they both want to guess the same number?

A: Well, it's first come, first serve. The other person will have to guess another number.

And that's all there is to it. If you have any questions, just let me know.

Well, I've gone back and scored the previous week. Here are the scores:

-1. American Eagle: 10 wins
-1. Irwin: 10 wins
-3. IDANCE4JESUS: 9 wins
-3. Jeremy: 9 wins
-3. Sapphire: 9 wins
-6. Marvin D.: 8 wins
-6. Moontide: 8 wins
-6. Ryder: 8 wins
9. The Top Crusader: 7 wins

I'm not sure who wins, though. A tie? I'll leave that up to Ryder.

Irwin made us all use North Carolina and Indiana as teams. Who in the world are the North Carolina and Indiana NFL teams? ;)

I'll have next week's picks in by Saturday. \:D/

American Eagle: I didn't ask you to score the pool for me, and to make matters even worse, you got the totals wrong. What further aggravates me is that you didn't even have the common courtesy to PM me before taking matters into your own hands with MY football pool. If you should have the compulsion to do this again in the future, I will exclude you from the pool altogether. I'm currently on vacation, but I'm still monitoring the pool and am fully capable of taking care of it. If I'm ever late again, please private message me. The correct scores are as follows:

Irwin- 10 correct
IDANCE4JESUS- 10 correct
American Eagle- 10 correct
Sapphire- 9 correct
Jeremy- 9 correct
Marvin D.- 8 correct
Moontide- 8 correct
Ryder- 8 correct
Top- 7 correct

I'm sorry for keeping everyone waiting, but as I stated above please feel free to PM me if I'm late again. As to the the three way tie, I am distributing the money accordingly.

o.0

Sorry, Ryder. I noticed it was Wednesday already and Week 2 was seemingly closing in, and last week's game hadn't been scored. Obviously, I didn't know you were on vacation, and thought the game might be abandoned. I truly wasn't trying to "take over" your game, but was worried it might be too late and nobody would predict next week. My apologies for messing it up.

I'll avoid doing so in the future, and will simply PM you if needed.

Some of those games were really great. Do we have a list of next week's games?
