Yes, it is a smaller number than most teams choose, but we are confident that this team will serve the needs of the community adequately.

For some reason, a Moderator Control Panel keeps showing up for me, but I can only edit the posts in Gower's Field...have I been a mod all this time and I haven't known?

Apparently we have a Gower's mod after all!
That is indeed strange.
EDIT: I believe I have found the problem. You have moderator permissions in Gower's. However, it looks very intentional and a bit advanced, so I'm going to wait a bit and talk to Catspaw about it.

You were still showing up as a forum moderator, but the other pemissions had been removed. It's gone now. Sorry.
