The Town of Odyssey

My family is looking into getting a dog... we'd like it to be small (definately under 20 inches) and one that will get along with our older cat. And of course, one that is not bothered by my younger brother (he's very noisy )

I had my heart set on getting an Italian Greyhound, but since they don't like too much noise, they are no longer an option.

Does anyone have any suggestions as to what type we should get?

What about Labrador Retreivers or Golden Retrievers? I have had experience with both breeds and the ones that I know are absolute sweethearts.

Yeah, or you can pick up a little dog at your local Taco Bell.

See, that's part of the problem... My family doesn't exactly want a hairy dog. We're quite picky.

What do you guys think of Miniature Pincshers (I have no idea how to spell them )? I think they're really cute, but I have no idea how they would co-opperate with my cat. Does anyone have one? If you do, what are your opinions?

Those are the greatest dogs ever! But apparently too big for Sarah's needs.

We have a mini wire/short haired dachshund. Grace is a very good dog, but she does shed some. I've never heard of anyone who has had trouble with this breed. They do have short lives, though...

*nods* We have a family friend that breeds them... If I were to get them though, I think I'd prefer the short hair, rather than the longer. They're so adorable!

Labs are the best dogs, but I think they are about the same size as Retrievers. They are probably WAY to big for you family.

Thanks! We have Chole' (Koh Lay) too. She's a black lab mix.

I think.... Hmmmm. A Jack Russel is good. If you're not picky abut the size, A black lab is good.
Sometimes a mongrel is a good pick because they have less inherant troubles.
German shepards get leg problems & epilepsy often. I'll just find that book of dogs........right!

Hmm...terriers of any kind are quite good pets, especially small-ish dpgs, they live longer... I've found them to be good and friendly, trained right, of course! beagles are lovely..unfortunatly they love drooling!

As to pinschers....well their kinda like (to look at) Manchester Terriers, I've not found out much about 'em though.

Also border collies are good pets.. NOT WITH SHEEP unless their trained as sheep-dogs.

You should get a (ok, I can't spell this!) Miniature Shnowzher. They are short haired and small and very nice dogs!
