I say, the least delectable part about rhubard is the musical instruments... lutes -can- be used as toothpicks, but that doesn't mean one really needs to, um, eat them.

I believe the "rhu" is in reference to the herb that bards are usually served with. It helps to cover up that horrible sappy flavor from all the love songs they sing.

rhubard pie (serves six)

mince 2 rhu bards
mix in 3 crushed lutes
stir in a heaping spoonful of bad taste
fold in whipped music
let sit for two hours outside
pour what's left of the mixture into an already-baked pie crust
put entire package-thing in oven for 5 hours at 600 degrees
retrieve charcoal
cut evenly
serve with whipped cream
