She was referring to Grammar as a school subject, so capitalization is proper. And it’s been determined that smileys can act as punctuation on here.

Hmm. My English book says the name of a specific course should be capitalized (such as Physics I), but that common nouns for courses should not be capitalized. For example, "We are studying southern Africa in our history class." I think it's correct. :-k

Debatable. If you want to be extremely technical that’s probably correct, but I capitalize any word I use for a class because whatever the word is, it still refers to a class.
But in this case, who’s to say her class isn’t named Grammar? If it is then she’s correct either way. :P
