I need a lawyer!
I need a lawyer!
I'm going to court with Buzz! She's suing me! I'll pay you 10 bucks, 15 if we win the lawsuit!

Unfortunately, I'm not a lawyer
But I am JUDGE MOODY and am willing to be bribed! *Waits for the money*
If you don't mind, why is buzz suing you?

If the case is brought before Judge Moody’s court, I’m the defense attorney there.

Beat me to it PF!

I can be it I love to debate and you can look up my record in the evolution thread
You can't do this! I need a lawyer as well, then! And I'll pay double!
The current procedure of Judge Moody’s court is that only the defendant has a lawyer. If a lawsuit is valid, then the person bringing it should be able to present their case unaided.
Thank you, bookworm. You will be my lawyer. When do you want me to pay you?
We’ll work that out later. Please send me a pm so we can set up the details of your case.
What if the the person presenting the case isn't as good as the defendant's lawyer, becaus the lawyer is way older than them? Isn't there a disadvantage there?bookworm wrote:The current procedure of Judge Moody’s court is that only the defendant has a lawyer. I hope that was clear.
And by your reasoning, couldn't you say the defendant should be able to defend themself if their defense is valid?
I don’t believe so. A decision will be made in the case based on evidence and facts, neither of which are age dependant.Mimi wrote:What if the the person presenting the case isn't as good as the defendant's lawyer, becaus the lawyer is way older than them? Isn't there a disadvantage there?
Should be, yes. But they have the right to an attorney if they do not wish to.Mimi wrote:And by your reasoning, couldn't you say the defendant should be able to defend themself if their defense is valid?
I mean, what if the lawyer can present evidence and facts better than the other person.
The person thats suing. I forget what they're called.
The plaintiff.
I still don’t see an issue, as I said the case is decided on evidence. Manner of presentation shouldn’t affect anything.
But if it seems unfair, the structure can be adjusted to allow for a setting of prosecuting attorney vs. defense attorney if either side wishes for representation.

Ah, thanks! I never would have remembered that.
Oh, ok. It seems unfair to me but whatever. I just wondered why it was set up the way it was.
