I'm finally getting with the times...
For years I had an old Sony, cassette Walkman, and I used it all the time. I still use it on occasion, but about 2005 (I think...), I decided to move on and I bought a Diskman. Now that thing... I used it religiously. It got me through more road trips than I care to count; I' just get a few audiobooks from the library, a bunch of AiOs, Jonathan Park, DGL, etc., stuff them all into my 50 CD case (remember those?), and I'd be set for the entire trip... Those were the days...
Anyway... So, recently, I decided that I should move on from my Diskman, so I got an MP3 Player this past Thursday. Aren't y'all so proud of me?
I bought it from Amazon on Monday, and it was $19.87, plus 7.95 shipping, unless I have an order over $25, which would give it free shipping. So I bought one of those little plug in things for USB chargers for $5.26 (and it also had free shipping for orders over $25)... So, in the end, I ended up saving money by buying two items.
I'm finally getting used to how this thing works...
It's 4GB, so I can fit about 15 hours of stuff on it, and it also has FM Radio, so I really like it.
However, I do not plan on getting rid of my trusty Diskman any time soon. I'll still use it every once in awhile, even just for old time's sake...

Sounds like you got a good deal for your MP3 player.
I never could figure out how to fully work those small MP3 players that we got several years ago. The farthest I've gotten to owning a digital device of that kind is a $25 MP4 player (the same as an MP3 player, except with a larger touch screen, making it easier find music) that my Dad got me at a Black Friday sale several years ago. I'm surprised it's still working, as, both my sisters' identical ones have already needed to be replaced.
I'm glad to hear that you're hanging onto your Diskman. While MP3 players are convienent to carry around, nothing can replace good old CDs.

You really are kidding. My MOTHER had an mp3 like 8 years ago.
No, I'm not kidding at all...Blitz wrote:You really are kidding. My MOTHER had an mp3 like 8 years ago.
I'm dead serious.

It's ok, I have an mp3 player too.
I wouldn't say they're with the times, per se...but they are certainly a better value (at least for my purposes) than an iPod.

Yeah, actually, that's the main reason I chose to wait so long.ric wrote:It's ok, I have an mp3 player too.

When MP3 players first came out, they were $150-$250. I got mine for about $25, alltogether.
It pays to wait.

Yeah right and so out of date. *shivers*
Staying "Current" and "In fashion" really doesn't make a whole lot of sense to me. You change the way you dress every couple of months (therefor buying new clothes every couple of months).
From a buisness standpoint, it's rather clever... However, from a practical standpoint (as a consumer), it really is just a waste of money.
I dress pretty much the same way each day (Boots, Jeans, Plaid Shirt, Straw Hat), and I don't care whether I'm "fashionable" or not.
And not only does that save me money, but it saves me time in the mornings, because I don't really have to think too much about what I should wear the next day.

It's cool though, JJ. Lots of people buy mp3 players at my store... it's just not really 'with the times'.

Well, it's about as "with the times" as I intend to get.American Eagle wrote:Blitz wrote:You really are kidding. Technology kind of scares me a little bit... I've read too much dystopian fiction.

I'm tired of people deciding what's with the time and what isn't. Fashion, music. .everything. Sure, they might look out of place, but if it gets the job done, then go for it =P
