Important End-of-Reading-Contest Procedures (8/24!)

Hello, and welcome to the Beginning of the End for the Summer Reading Contest 2009! \:D/

I've really enjoyed facilitating this contest; my only regret is that I can't participate in it. :mope: (Considering, however, how little reading I've done this summer, maybe that's a good thing. :anxious:)

Okay, now for the deadlines!:

Last Day to Count Pages: August 22 (next Saturday)
  • Remember, the three Books of the Month (Voyage of the Dawn Treader by C.S. Lewis, When Heaven Weeps by Ted Dekker, and God's Smuggler by Brother Andrew) can count as double-the-pages! \:D/
Last Day to Submit Your Page Count:
August 24
  • Send a PM containing your total page count and the total number of books you read (just the number of books, not the titles). :)

If you're going to be on vacation when the contest ends, or you have other extenuating circumstances that will keep you from submitting your total page count by August 24, please PM me before that day so I know the situation and we can make alternate plans accordingly. I'm willing to extend the deadline for those who will be away from their computers on August 24, but only if you let me know ahead of time!

I think that's everything. But the contest isn't over yet! There are still two more coupons to be awarded, several others that still need to be redeemed, and Take-a-Picture-of-Yourself-Reading pictures to be posted and bonus points to be doled out! :D

If you have any questions, however, don't hesitate to ask! :)

what happens if we've only read part of a book, how are we supposed to figure that into the total

Just take the page total of the entire book, subtract the number of pages you didn't read, divide by the number the chapters in the book, and then multiply by the number of words in the author's bio.

Or you could simply count the pages you've read. ;)

Duh. :p I was talking about the number of books we've read, cause if we didn't read the whole book then we haven't really read the book. So, how are we suposed to count the number of books we've read if we haven't read the entire book?

My thoughts exactly. That might take a while and a lot of thinking. Well, no better time to start then the present *Pours herself a glass of peach tea to prepare herself for the task*

I'm more worried about figuring out the pages of my Bible reading than the pages of my books...maybe I should do that now. *time passes* Ok, I've got it! :)

Yeah, I've been carefully recording the name of each book I've read and how many pages it was in a little notebook, so that will be easy, but like Jugglah, adding up the Bible reading will take longer! I should have been doing that all along too. Oh well.

That's smart. I just did it the old-fashioned way by adding it up on the calculator.

70% of the books I read were from the library, and I don't remember how many pages were in each book. The only thing I know is that I read over 120 books.

That's a lot of books. Were they long? I guess I mean what was the average length?

Strange, I was almost positive I'd replied and said "Saturday," since I was just coming back here to edit my post to say "Monday." :-k

Okay. I was also wondering if we count books that we've read today, also, and if so, do we stop counting at midnight in our own timezones or another timezone? :anxious:

Yes, you can count books read today... and I suppose Eastern time works, since that's usually the time zone I use for deadlines.

Yeah, and since no one seems to understand how to go back three hours from Eastern to make it to PST... (We could make it mountain time! Much more fun!)

8:59 PST = 11:59 EST (or whatever its initials are...)

Hmm... you live in PST, Lizzie. What's with the whole Eastern time zone?
