Honestly, I'm not that into sci-fi. I think the only truly great sci-fi books are those by Orson Scott Card, but then, maybe I just haven't been exposed to enough of it to appreciate the genre.

No offence, Orson Scott Card definitley not the best of the sci-fi genre. :noway: I love science fiction, and I read it all the time. Maximum Ride is my favorite series, but I love reading all kinds of science fiction books. You can tell a lot about a person by the science fiction they write.

Starship Troopers by Robert Heinlein is definitely on my list of best books, and best sci-fi.
Anything by Jules Verne is great too.

Then of course, Star Wars. :anxious: I have an entire bookshelf devoted to those. xD

Actually I enjoyed Ender's Game, despite what Amy says. :noway:

I've been interested in Star Wars books but I'm not sure where to begin. Can you peoples give me some good titles to begin with, or perhaps authors? (I know SNC would prolly help with this also if she happens to look in here, *hint hint*)
And what Star Trek books do you like best, Kairi?

For Star Wars, you should start with Timothy Zahn's books. The Thrawn Trilogy (these were Zahn's first Star Wars books) is a great place to start, as it introduces Mara Jade, Jaina and Jacen, and Grand Admiral Thrawn.. Allegiance is also good. (Also written by Timothy Zahn.) As is The Hand of Thrawn duology (Timothy Zahn). Funny, I'm detecting a pattern here. :-k If you really like these books, you might want to read Vector Prime which introduces the Yuuzhan Vong and the Yuuzhan Vong war. And if you are still alive after the YVW, you might try the Legacy of the Force series. Also, Wookiepedia is a great Star Wars wiki with lots of information about the books and the movies.

As far as favorite Star Trek books, I must say I really liked A Singular Destiny and (so far) the Double Helix book series. A Singular Destiny takes place in the Next Gen era (TNG, DS9, VOY), with the characters trying to pick up the pieces after the Borg strike revenge. The Double Helix series is about a series of diseases: the first disease attacks hybrids (aka Betazoid/Human, Vulcan/Human), the second disease takes place on DS9 during the occupation, and the third disease threatens the Romulan royal family. There are three more books, I just haven't gotten around to reading them yet.

*looks up at long post*

I'm such a geek. \:D/
