Grammer and Spelling

If there's something on your mind that just doesn't seem to fall into any of the other categories, well, it quite likely belongs inside Joe Finneman's marketplace. Think of it as a general store for general discussions!

Should everyone try to use better grammer and spelling in their posts?

Grammer and Spelling

Post by Master Kenobi »

I don't know why, but I am frequently bothered by bad grammer and spelling. Does anyone else feel the same way?

I must admit, it does bother me a bit. :D

It's not a HUGE deal, but when it is overwhelming it really distracts me from what the post is saying.

I always try to proofread mine so nothing slips by. A couple of times I've made a mistake, though, so I understand some typos.

Absolutely! Of course, the random slip here or there is acceptable. However, it simply gets irksome when people intentionally mess up the grammar. ](*,) That kind of verbalization belongs in Hillingdale. :anxious:

It is not a big deal for me. I am pretty good with spelling but I am awful with grammar. I can sympathize with the folks on here that have the same problem. Posting on this board is not a school assignment, it is supposed to be fun. It does not matter to me if somebody misspells a word or is not very good with grammar and spelling. I'm sorry if I have offended anyone, I do try not to. :D

I just love it when people spell "grammar" as "grammer".

I don't really care. Now if someone is making a Jared-length post in EK's style of writing...that would be a problem.

It doesn't matter to me iether way. I often forget to capitalize words, and I know my spelling is atrocious. I have grammar issues too. I try not to do it, but I don't always go back over my work to check it.

It bothers me. I'm going to be an english teacher when I graduate college. (A republican teacher, which seems to have become scarce.) So, yes little things bother me a lot. Mostly bad grammar, the thing I have trouble with is punctuation.
Do any of YOU know how to make hand shadows?

Spelling and grammar here doesn't really bother me. It's so much better than some of the other boards I'm on.

EDIT: Exception is made for people typing "here here," instead of "hear hear." That just irks me.

I agree. "Here, here" almost seems like they're treating you like... a dog or something. I don't know, it just sounds annoying.

Although I prefer posts with good grammar and spelling, I wouldn't force anyone to type like that. I don't really mind, anyway-- unless the post is illegible.

I think not..........and I'll either give my reason later on today or sometime tomorrow.

It ticks me off slightly, because I must sit and look at the post and try to place the commas in to know what the poster is saying. And most of the time, the person is just being lazy. But, it doesn't truely matter one way of the other.

Being an English teacher, of course I prefer to see people use correct grammar, spelling, and punctuation.
