Chinese New Year

If there's something on your mind that just doesn't seem to fall into any of the other categories, well, it quite likely belongs inside Joe Finneman's marketplace. Think of it as a general store for general discussions!

Chinese New Year

Post by bookworm »

Happy Year of the Monkey everyone!

I got a free egg roll at Panda Express; no red envelope this time though.

Oooh that's awesome. Do you usually go to Panda Express for the Chinese new year?

Since least year, yes. Just for the free thing though, I don't usually eat there. (I love Chinese food, that's just not where I go for it.) I was going to post to let people know they could go get one, but the site was down. :( For next year though, a coupon will show up on this website you can take in.

I made a paper lantern. I'm not a crafty person at all so I'm quite pleased with how it turned out.

That is pretty cute! Did you follow a set of instructions from somewhere, or plan it out on your own?

It was generally based on this version, but I combined it with another one I had seen and used a toilet paper tube for the middle so it was more sturdy. It's pretty easy to make, but if anyone else is going to I don't recommend using construction paper. I only did because I didn't have colored regular paper handy, but it made forming the globe part very delicate to make sure it bent rather than tore. Regular paper would take the shape more naturally.

Great, thanks for the info! I might just give it a try. :D Or let some kids try who are more artistic than me, which doesn't take that much. ;)
