Probably because I have a dial-up internet connection and a less-than-stellar microphone. 
It takes a lot less time for me to type out an answer than to record one, plus some questions lend themself better to a written answer. It's also much easier for people to access answers if they're typed here than if they have to wait for me to record something and then download it and then find the right time to listen to it.
