So I haven't gotten a notification email from the ToO since 2016. My settings still say to alert me of replies to watched topics but I never get anything. Has any progress been made on this?

Oh great Catspaw, considering it's almost been a year since the last election, will we see one again soon? If so, how do you feel about gearing it more towards a Town Council?

Yes, one day soon we will have an election.

The problem I have with a town council is that if it's hard to get two people interested in making the commitment, it probably isn't easier getting a larger number of people to do it. Admins have always appointed moderators to help out, and other people are always able to run events and help in other ways as well, so I don't see a big advantage to changing the system. That's my perspective on the town council idea.

what happened to the birthday announcement thingie? if i'm correct it used to be at the top of the site back in the day right?

Yes, the birthday announcements used to be at the top of the main index. I think they were deemed too conspicuous there. Maybe an update rendered it impossible? Bookworm might remember better than me, since I am quite forgetful. At the time I don't think it was greatly missed, though it was kind of fun.

I’m pretty sure it is broken. Because it used to show upcoming birthdays and such at the bottom of the index (under the “who was here” and currently online stats. I think it broke around the time the “who was here” broke.. But at least we have that back now!

Hopefully when the ToO is updated that will be fixed.

It's fun! I like seeing people drop by to share about how their lives are going. It shows that they valued their time on the ToO enough to come visit again, however briefly.
