I voted yes. A lot of people on the ToO, at the moment, have a lot of money and very little to do with it. It's something extra to do on the ToO, and if money isn't the main focus of the board, then if the economy crashes and everyone has to be re-set, no one should mind :).

I hear what you say; however, there is another point to consider. Pretty much only one person abused the stock market and that was Fenix because he figured out how it worked. Since then, Shadowpaw has fixed that so the stock market is unfigureoutable. So the chance of someone misusing it has been decreased, if not ruled out entirely.

Yeah Fenix got over $20 million from it. I always appreciated the fact that he gave me $5,000 for every signature I made him :-.

Anywho, I am lovin' how many replies there are here. Grabbin' input from everyone is absolutely wonderful, keep it comin' people!

I voted no, simply because it wasn't something I was interested/involved in before, but I actually have nothing against it coming back for those who wish to use it. :) And if some people make money on it, and newbies don't have as much - who cares? It's not required that everyone be equal.

I remember I figured how Fenix was making so much money; but I never exploited the system. I can't say I wasn't tempted. O:)

Dr. Watson wrote:I voted yes, because it was a lot of fun and was an opportunity to make more money. Really, the only people who would get "rich" are the ones who actively keep track of the market and know which ones to invest in. So basically, those who put time and effort into it make money--which is the basic premise of this board. Those who put time and effort into posting make more money than those who don't. Those who put time and effort into devising contests make more money than those who don't. I'm not worried about some people having more money than others. If everyone had the same amount, that would be boring socialism. :(
But then what about people that put equal time and effort into other capital endeavors on the ToO. (Such as a crestwood business?) They won't be making half as much as the people that actively track the market, and figure out the pattern of a non-organic stock market.

The stock market itself is rather redundant as none of the companies in the Market are represented on the ToO, nothing the users do will affect the prices of the stocks so it doesn't necessarily reflect a real economy.

I feel the whole economy system is broken and the only real way to fairly make money would be to trash the jobs system and get money only by posting, the only reason SEKHA didn't do this is because of the resounding disapproval it would obviously cause, I tried to work around the fractious job system that is obviously the cause of all inflation...but it cannot be fixed.

The stock market could be blamed for economic meltdown but ultimately it's the job system. But still, I voted no. If the economy was more active and people were actually spending money...then I would perhaps vote yes...as long as the base stock prices were kept relatively low and not to a ridiculously high point.

Oh, and if the stock market came back, there is the potential of creating an epic 100 page "Stock and Profits" thread like last time. \:D/

Now that it's been mentioned, that would be nice. :anxious: Why not do away with the money and such? It's not really needed... in my opinion.

Well that would solve alot...but the premise of tossing jobs would be to still keep the element of the money around (I suppose for item and election purposes) while not having to reset it when it goes overboard. (and trust me...it will eventually go overboard)

But then again...i'm not the mayor so...i'll stop talking now.

I voted no because the money's main reason is to encourage people to post. I mean, isn't the whole purpose of this board is so that AIO fans from across the continent (mostly) can come together and talk? The jobs are fine, because they keep us logging in and checking issues, and getting money for posting is good too. But we shouldn't have a thread or board, or whatever, based on making money on the ToO, it's not what we're about.

Okay, jobs and money are part of what makes this a town. If we got rid of them, this place might as well be called "The AIO Discussion Forum" or "Town Hall" :-

Try taking jobs and money out of a real town and see how well it works. :noway:

We'd keep the jobs and cash, just not the stock market. And I believe most real towns survive without stock markets.

Yes I agree!! To much money can hurt the Town. We should focus more on what this forum's about.
