The Amazing Race: (Leg 1)
That's okay, it happens!
Maybe Catspaw will let you continue running the event after a new team is elected?

I would be fine with that if they were interested and the new elected admin team finds that it works for them and the events they have planned.Joy wrote:That's okay, it happens!

However, there is about a month left, so you never know what might happen in the meantime!

Very true Catspaw.

Who am I? I'd rather not answer that question, the real question is, "Who are you?". Right now I am trying to think of something witty to put here.. I might not find anything, but that's fine. This block of text should be fine for a signature. Wait, are you still reading this? Why are you reading this? Stop. Seriously. This sentence is true.
The sentence above is false.
I dare you not to read this.Maybe if I talk like this.
Wait, you still see me? *sighs* I give up.

Yeah, this better not be cancelled like Odyssey Survivor was!
That’s the downside of epic-scope events like this.

The last leg, Tikvah and I chose the alternate option. Our task:
We fell far short of the 2,000 words, but we gave it valiant try in the short time we had! Here is our poem, in case anybody wants to read it. Did any other team go with the alternate option and care to share their poem?Monty wrote:In the style of Team Sherwood's Spring Dance competition, you will be composing a poem. Words are what really matter here. You want to make a fully-rhyming poem about the Amazing Race that totals 2,000 words. You can, of course, submit a poem with fewer words, but expect your time arriving at the finish to suffer. The last team to check in, as based on their money donated or number of words submitted, may be eliminated.
The Amazing Race
By Tikvah and Laura Ingalls
Here we go, in the Amazing Race,
Where each team strives to be in first place.
Fun is to be had, join us in the race,
Compete against others, give them chase.
Laura, Bookworm and more are here,
reaching for the prize that as yet is not near.
Every leg when Monty says "Go!"
we’re off, who will win we don't know.
We don’t race down the road with runners in a hoard
We race around town with our mouse and keyboard!
All of us are racing in JPM's Biggest event,
of all the teams, none will relent.
Up and down through hill and dale,
'though the weather is sunny or a strong gale
JCGJCA, Team ToyJoy and our team LIT,
none find the time to rest or to sit.
We all enjoy this Amazing Race,
which moves along at a glorious fast pace!
Sometimes we seem a bit crazy
But on the good side, we can't be called lazy.
Can we find the odd pictures, all forty of them?
Searching through the mire to find the one gem.
Detours, speed bumps, and looking for clues
Go as fast as you can - we don't want to lose!
Here, there, where to go next?
Just think really hard and don't be vexed.
Take a look in Harlequin or another forum,
Be on your best behavior and act with decorum.
Typing out a story about your first tooth,
Feeling the nostalgia from back in your youth.
Do NOT give away any hints to your foes,
They may pull ahead and win by a nose!
Keep toiling on, don't give up the race
Search through the board, pick up your pace.
Writing a team slogan and making a set
We are not done, oh no, not yet.
Wear your team’s colors with vigor and pride,
Sparking ideas with a teammate by your side.
Team LIT is lighting up the competition
with all our wonderful, sparkling ambition.
Onward to the finish line we ardently press,
Doing our very best and not a shred less.
Messaging to and fro with your teammate
To win the first prize you must collaborate.
Here is a clue, there is a clue,
I can’t figure it out, please, can you?
You write a story, I’ll find the picture,
Put us together and you get a good mixture.
Fuel up your brain, think hard for an answer.
Take the secret challenge or be a financer.
While others have money, we don’t have much,
So we settle for a poem, with writing and such.
Can we advance on to the next leg of the game?
Write many words, and then more of the same.
The Race stretches on, don’t sit back and wait,
You may have to work hard and to stay up late.
Your eyes get bleary, your fingers are tired,
Just keep at, you just may be inspired!
Even now it is a race against time,
putting together rhyme after rhyme.
The work is endless, the pay is none,
yet we will do it all for the sake of fun.
I can tell you for sure, that when all this is done
I for one, will not want to run.
No time for music, no time for the ball,
Lounging, scrounging, we must shun it all.
What will our prize be? That is the question.
We want to win it, it is our obsession.
Keep on running, don’t give up the fight,
You can make it if you try with all your might.
Six teams remain in this race to the finish line
Who will be there first and be the ones to shine?
Just watch - Team LIT will take the prize
They are the very best, I am not telling lies!
The Lord is not slow about His promise, as some count slowness, but is patient toward you, not wishing for any to perish, but for all to come to repentance. ♡
