Actually, placing a ban on signatures does make everything a whole lot less confusing and cumbersome. I'm on a few forums that do this, and it's quite enjoyable to not see everybody text from 2 years ago along with 2 days ago that people don't clean up. It's like having a table in your room: it just gets junky unless you actively use and do things at it all the time.

Having bigger signatures would make the board load slower and I am NOT in favor of that.
