The Summer Forecast: It's So Fluffy I'm Going to Die!

Post by American Eagle »

THE SUMMER FORECAST
The Lounge! | Week 1 | Week 2 | Week 3 | Week 4 | Week 5 | Week 6 | Week 7 | Week 8 | Week 9 | Week 10 | Finale!

You're not going to believe this, but gas prices dropped a lot last week! By Saturday night, the cost of one gallon of gas was only $3.49. This is exactly what Knight Fisher predicted, and thus, he alone is awarded 3 tickets. Come on guys, I wanted to give more out. :( On the bright side, I like it when prices fall 75 cents in three weeks. \:D/

Special Announcement!
Here is our dandy new prize structure:
Grand Prize (1): $25 Gift Card to Christianbook.com which can be used on Odyssey merch, DVDs, Bibles, music or whatever you want!
Runner ups (3): A hard-to-find Odyssey activity book signed, sealed and delivered by yours truly. \:D/

Note: I need your address to ship you these prizes. If you prefer not to share that with me, I'll substitute your prize for $1000 or $250 in ToO cash, respectively.

Week 6: How much money will Despicable Me 2 make this weekend?
The first Despicable Me made about $56 million during its first weekend. Without getting too technical, the sequel is opening during the 4th of July holiday, so everything's going to go a little crazy. Animated sequels usually make more money than the original. You can fight me if you disagree, but I'm thinking it will open around $70 million. ;)

Therefore, AE's Honest Estimate: $56 million — $90 million.

Here's how points will be awarded this week:
  • If you guess within $10 million, you'll get 1 ticket.
  • If you guess within $5 million, you'll get 2 tickets.
  • If you guess within $1 million, you'll get 3 tickets! \:D/
Forecast Tickets for Week 6
  • 4 Tickets
    Knight Fisher, Shakespeare

    3 Tickets
    ~JCGJ~, Eugene the second, Sunshine

    2 Tickets
Aftershocker, bookworm, Jehoshaphat, Jesus' Princess, Laura Ingalls, Marvin D., Monty

    1 Ticket
Brad, godisawesomeness99, Graces4you, Joanne, Joy, Musical Shutterbug, snubs, Taps, Termite

    0 Tickets
Christian A., Petrichor, radgeek, The Kings Daughter, TigerintheShadows, T.S. (myself)
Remember: the Grand Prize isn't whoever ends up with the most tickets; it's going to be randomly drawn from a hat. The more tickets you have in the hat, the better, but anyone can win! I'm expecting everyone to nail it this week and get a lot of tickets! \:D/ This thread closes at midnight EST on Wednesday night.

It's up against The Lone Ranger this weekend, so I'm going to guess a little lower with $69 million.

JP and snubs need to see the first movie! :protest:

No, he was only 1 penny off. You had to be within 5 cents to get a ticket. I expanded the range this week (on movie predictions) to make it a little easier to win tickets.

I shall predict...69 million.

I'm predicting a rather low number due to the many variables that will effect the movie's viewing numbers. This is hard to predict. It's going to be up against The Lone Ranger and Monsters University...two other popular children's movies. Plus, this is the Fourth of July weekend.

Ah, kree :p I dunno. I shall stick with my instincts.

According to my brother he said it was AMAZING! He works at a theater so he gets to see most movies before they come out. Anyway just wanted to point this out. He also said it was better then MU by a lot.

I'm going with 77 million. I have no idea of movie money intakes, so I'm just going within your range, AE. \:D/ Don't steer me wrong. :x
