History lesson for the newbies (and IDance):
The first $10 Day was on Halloween (Oct 31) of 2005 and wasn’t originally planned to be an annual event. But then Shadowpaw decided to use it in an attempt to set a new user record and after its great success it was made a yearly tradition.

But if nobody remembers this happening, what's not to say that the Ministry of Truth hasn't simply rewritten the information, changed the past, and has now changed our future? IT'S BIG BROTHER, PEOPLE.

Yes, it's 1984.

The posts are to say. Did you check the links?
And it’s false that “nobody” remembers this, at least two people do. I am very surprised to see how many don’t each year though.

It could be false information planted by the Ministry of Truth for that very reason, and an extra 20 grammes of chocolate would be enough to convince anyone to "remember" this new information :noway:

Big Brother, this is doubleplusungood.

Well now that it's in effect, I remember that it happens on the 31st, but it wasn't something on my radar when I logged on this morning.

You see? Not even she remembers it. THIS IS PROOF. The only proof we have is made-up evidence that will slowly convince us into believing that this is an annual event. The past can be rewritten. Our present is re-defined. Our future is forever altered.

First, it doesn’t matter how many people don’t remember it, Catspaw and I do.
Second, how is the evidence made up? I linked to the original posts. >_>
Third, even if it is fake, why would you be opposed to it? It’s something everyone likes.
Third and a half, the fact that it is something everyone likes should prove it isn’t a conspiracy anyway. Why would someone go through all the trouble to create a good fake thing?

How is spouting nonsensical complaints that don’t hold up fun? If you’re going to cry conspiracy, at least do it over something that could be one.

No you don't, :P

Edit:
$10 dollars :)
^AIOluver^

Who am I? I'd rather not answer that question, the real question is, "Who are you?". Right now I am trying to think of something witty to put here.. I might not find anything, but that's fine. This block of text should be fine for a signature. Wait, are you still reading this? Why are you reading this? Stop. Seriously.
STOP.
This sentence is true.
The sentence above is false.

I dare you not to read this.
Hey! I said not to read this.
Maybe if I talk like this.
Wait, you still see me? *sighs* I give up.

I just want to tell everyone I am really proud at how you all handled yourselves. Compared to last year, there was excellent restraint shown in keeping posts meaningful and not just posting because of the day. Well done!

Edit:

On that note, this is amazing. For the first time on record (though admittedly only four of eight $10 Days are on record, so this may have happened between 2007 and 2011) the stimulus incentive had no effect on overall posting! As in literally 0.00% In fact, we were one post away from actually having a daily tally below the average.

Here are how the numbers break down:
2005:
2,200 posts on Oct 31
630 average posts per day
3.5 times the average

2006:
2,457 posts on Oct 31
630 average posts per day
3.9 times the average

2012:
454 posts on Oct 31
343 average posts per day
1.3 times the average
6 topics created

2013:
317 posts on Oct 31
316.79 average posts per day
exactly the average
6 topics created
Interestingly, the same number of new topics were created as last year.

Economic statistics, just for fun:
(Note that these numbers are not 100% accurate as they assume that every post tallied was worth $10 when in fact not all were (SBC, HH, etc.) but it’s a ballpark estimate.)

2005: $22,000
2006: $24,570
2012: $4,540
2013: $3,170
