Polarhome isn't an option any more, due to a change they made a while back. I may be able to get something similar working, though.

If you mean the ToO_Guest_1234 nickname you get, you can change that by entering a new name in the box in the lower right corner and pressing enter. (Or you could just log in first.)

You may need to install java, which you can do here.

When you first loaded the chat, it should have asked you if you wanted to trust the applet. If you said no, it won't be able to connect to the chat.

I get this strange message every time I try to sign in...it gives me my name and everything but...yeah:
[21:16] Connecting...
[21:16] Logging in...
[21:16] Error : Unrecognized Windows Sockets error: 10107: socket write error
[21:16] Error : Unrecognized Windows Sockets error: 10107: socket write error
[21:16] Disconnected from irc.shadowfire.org

And since that makes no sense to me at all, I'm at a loss of what to do. (And it'll probably turn out to be some really simple problem that can fixed...or one that can't be.)

I would check your firewall settings, if you have one. :-k

I think it simply means you should press "yes" to trusting the applet and you'll be able to connect.

However, if you don't trust the applet, I won't stop you from pressing "no." ;)

You could always try mIRC, it's a decent program.

Does the chat room have a bad language filter? If it doesn't, I don't think I'll be able to use it. :x
