Odyssey Week is over...but here is an

Interview with AE from staff member- takeitfromthetop

takeitfromthetop wrote:1. How did you come up with the idea for Odyssey Week?[/color]

As you may know, iTaliq (Term 13) ran a similar contest called "Spirit Week" last year. I remember that being a lot of fun for everyone, so I wanted to do something similar. Laura Ingalls liked the idea as well, and thus, "Odyssey Week" was born!

takeitfromthetop wrote:2. What did you originally envision Odyssey Week would be like? is it turning out how you expected?

It's turning out much like I expected. People seem to be having fun, and the contests have run pretty smoothly.

takeitfromthetop wrote:3. Do you have any speciel suprises or hints about the end of Odyssey Week that you can give us?

Alright, BIG NEWS! Due to the smashing success of this week, I'm going to start Odyssey Week v.2 next week! That will be fun! ;)

Haha, no; we aren't planning on doing a second Odyssey Week. \:D/ Special surprises? Aside from awarding the Odyssey Week Trophy to the winning team, announcing winners in the individual challenges, etc., each team will be making something on Friday that will be converted into a shop item! Each member of the winning team will get one free, and others will be available for purchase!

takeitfromthetop wrote:4. Were there any ideas for Odyssey Week that you had to scrap?

There were several things that I had to cut, and other ideas were adapted over time. When Odyssey Week was put together, I planned to include a $25 fee to play, but at the last moment, I decided to remove it. I also planned a "How Well Do You Know Catspaw?" contest, but that idea merged into something that will be happening on Friday. So yeah, some plans were scrapped. ;)

takeitfromthetop wrote:5. do you have any behind the scenes stuff you can tell us?

Behind the scenes? Is the fact that I've winged this contest from the start behind the scenes enough? ;) For some of the trivia questions, teams actually came up with answers I didn't know existed! Oh, and most of the "rules" were made up on the spot. \:D/
All in all, this has been a fantastic contest! Every team is doing marvelously, and I can't wait to see how the results turn out!

Thank you takeitfromthetop for this wonderful interview!!

Interview with Catspaw from IDANCE4JESUS. Thanks IDANCE!

First, when & how did you become the wonderful admin that we know today as Catspaw? \:D/

Shadowpaw, the amazing founder of the ToO, had been really busy for a while and contacted me to see if I was interested in taking over for him. I had been a mod a few times and an admin once (way back in term 2) so I had some experience, and I accepted Shadowpaw's offer. I took over for him at the end of January 2007, at the very start of term 6. Poor EK and J-man had to suffer through the experience of me figuring everything out, but they survived...I think. ;)

What is the inspiration behind your username?

I really like the AIO episode "The Last Great Adventure of the Summer" and I had listened to it recently when I was trying to choose a username for this cool AIO message board that my brother had found called the TownHall. Catspaw just sounded like a fun name in the episode, and I usually list cats as my favourite animal, so it sounded like a good choice. I never expected it to become such a natural name for me to respond to - sometimes I have to stop myself from signing personal e-mails with Catspaw instead of my real name! :anxious: I had no idea that there was already a member named Shadowpaw when I picked my username.

What is your opinion of the new Mayor, Chief of Police, & assisting Police Force? (Mods)

American Eagle and Laura are off to a roaring start! \:D/ They're already busy with Odyssey Week and have already filled or started to fill other things they promised while they were campaigning as well, which is always great to see. The mods are like always - dedicated and busy finding ways to have fun while helping everybody out! Answering questions and moving threads and editing posts...they're doing it all! :D

How did you find the ToO?

I was a member of the TownHall, a site that many of the early members of the ToO were on. The TH was a fun site with an AIO section, and Shadowpaw, the founder of the ToO, was a member and moderator there. He was advertising something coming on April 1 but nobody (or almost nobody, myself included) knew what it was! The first day the ToO opened, everybody who went to check out Shadowpaw's secret was amazed to discover the joys of the ToO!

What does a typical day as an admin consist of?

I try to log in at least twice a day, sometimes more when I can. I read (or at least skim) most posts in the main areas of the board, and of course I check my private messages and also the mod and admin boards to see if any concerns have arisen or if anybody has a question or something they need done. Some days I don't really do anything as an admin; other days I have to make decisions or offer advice or answer questions or add rank bars or deal with some headache-inducing situation....though fortunately, those don't happen very often. ;) There can be a variety of things, depending on the day and what's going on.

What is your favorite part of the ToO?

That's a tough question! I have a hard time picking favourites. I'll go with "no comment" on this one...the perfect choice for the indecisive person! \:D/

Thank you for your time, Catspaw! Any last thoughts?

Thanks for interviewing me! I hope that readers get a little insight after reading it...or at least managed to stay awake. ;)

Would you like a job editing and/or writing for my newspaper. PM me! I'll be sure to get you a spot in my staff.
