Truth for a New Generation

Post by ~JCGJ~ »

I'm going to be attending the "Truth for a New Generation," apologetics conference in Greenville, SC, in about two weeks or so...
I'm really looking forward to it, and I was wondering if any of my fellow ToOers were planning on attending.

Here's the link to the site, if anyone's interested.

It's $39 for students, and $59 for the general public.

The speaker lineups and their topics depress me:
Larry Taunton: How to make friends with an atheist
I shudder to think what they'll say. Maybe you should go to that and tell me what they say so I can clear up their misconceptions.
Monica Cole: Impact of the gay agenda on the American family
And what agenda would that be? Trying to achieve equality? You should go to that one too and let me know what they say so I can clear up misconceptions as well.
Bill Foster: The 4 Kinds of Skepticism: How to engage skepticism
That one sounds interesting. Would love to know what they talk about.
Dr. Tony Beam: The gay agenda’s impact on American politics
More gay agenda stuff. Always fun. I honestly don't know what conservatives mean by "gay agenda."
Carmen Fowler LaBerge: The Games we Play with God: recognizing and confronting functional atheism
I don't know what they mean by "functional atheism."

Over all I'd say: be careful. You're going to hear a lot of different ideas about things like atheists and gays. Please do let me know what they say because I'm almost certain there will be misconceptions.

I will take unbiased (as unbiased as I can, at least...) notes for you, and I'll relay them back to you.

As there is towards Christianity as well. ;) But so be it.

Have fun, JCGC! Be blessed and ready to receive. I love conferences.

I don't think I've ever said any misconceptions. Most everything I've said has come from first person, second person, or third person experience. Or backed up by data. I try not to make broad sweeping generalizations.

I didn't say you did, I was just making a off-hand point. But the misconceptions often are not seen by any party who believes in what others claim is false. *shrug* Goes for everything, not just Christians.

This is true. That's why I avoid broad sweeping generalizations and only talk about what I know from research and experience.

Because Heterosexuals doesn't want anything in particular changed in politics as a group.
