Amazon.com

pretty cool site

Here's the place for discussing music, plays, YouTube videos, and any other media that doesn't quite fit in the other sections of Harlequin Theatre.

I actually used Amazon Canada once. The American one didn’t have what I was looking for.

Hey Jelly, I found that website Google you were talking about. It's ridiculous how much I use it now. Have you ever heard of Twitter? It's a niche website that my friends and I found, and it's pretty cool.

Sometimes I think about this thread.

And how Amazon.com will probably take over the world soon. :(

Amazon is pretty great!I ordered a couple of used books for my mom today (at her request, not as a gift - buying things on the internet is one step past her tech preferences). ;) It's amazing what you can all get delivered to you.

Haha, that's really cute. I like it. :D

I personally do not see the appeal of the Alexa or any similar devices, but maybe I'm just old like that. ;)

Yeah... I have an Echo Dot. I don't find it wildly useful, but there are some things it's pretty nice for:

- Playing radio stations. Much nicer if you have an Echo with a better speaker, or an external speaker plugged into it. The Dot's speaker is just ok. ("Alexa, play Abiding Radio Instrumental.")
- Checking timezones. ("Alexa, what timezone am I in?"; "Alexa, what's the time in Phoenix?"; "Alexa, what's the timezone in Los Angeles?")
- Setting timers and alarms ("Alexa, set a timer for thirty minutes."; "Alexa, set an alarm for 5:30pm.")
- Adding items to a todo list / shopping list. I have it integrated with Todoist. ("Alexa, add two tons of creamed corn to my shopping list." ;) ... )
- Playing podcasts. ("Alexa, play Stuff You Should Know.")
- Getting Amazon delivery alerts. The ring on the dot glows green when it has a notification for you. ("Alexa, what did I miss?")

It can do lots of other stuff. For instance, playing Audible audiobooks, which I should really be more into since I love Audible, but it's just more convenient to have the book walk around with me via my phone rather than having to stay within earshot of the Dot... :anxious: So the above list are about the only things I find myself using it for on a regular basis.

I have come to the conclusion that Amazon may not be a pretty cool site, and that Jeff Bezos may actually not be a pretty cool guy.
