How will you introduce your kids to Star Wars?

Post by STRYPER »

Well it's pretty much that how you were introduced to Narnia is your preference. So my thought was to see how many parents introduced their kids (us) to them in Written or Chronological order

Speaking of introducing series to your kids...

:offtopic:

What order will you introduce your kids to Star Wars??? :-k

Well, I won't introduce it to them for a while, I think, the way my mom did (I just watched them for the first time the beginning of this year). But after that, it'll definitely be IV, V, VI, I, II, III. It seems to just make sense that way. I think I would have been totally lost watching the Phantom Menace, etc. first.

Without a doubt IV, V, VI, I, II, III... if I even bother to show Phantom Menace at all... ;)

I agree completely with Mandy. I think I'll wait a good while until my kids are allowed but when they will, they will be exposed to the cheasy graphics of the original.

The Darth Vadar scene at the beginning of a New Hope sent chills up my spine and I want my kids to experience the same :D

Oh and hey, which admin had the brilliant idea of taking my little post and turning it into a hit topic? What a great idea, I wish I'd thought of it originally. Thanks for making me the creator of the thread...

The force is strong with this one ^.

It's funny this topic came up, because it's the exact question I've asked myself for years. I think, because of of the "I am your father" twist, it would be best to let my children watch IV, V, VI. Though it would be kind of neat to watch all of them in order (despite how terrible Phantom Menace was).

Definitely in the order of IV, V, VI, I, II, III. It seems to make more sense that way. Plus, the older trilogy is much better, and first impressions are everything. ;) Despite the fact that they didn't have good graphics then, I think the older trilogy was filmed well.

I have no idea. I guess I'll wait until I have a kid who's old enough. Then we'll see.

I introduced my kids in the:

IV, V, VI, I, II, III order.

They also saw The animated Clone Wars DVD 1 prior to III, which does some bridging of the story between II and III. DVD Part 2 of that animated series comes out in early December.

iv, v, vi, i,ii,iii

My son has seen bits and pieces of the first three, but not much. I likes to go around saying, I have 5 special commando units awaiting your orders, yes sir! It's pretty cute. But the movies can be dark, I guess that's why they call it the dark side. I think I'll wait till he's around 7, maybe later to start watching them.

I think I would go with what many of the others here have said - first the original trilogy, and then eps I, II, III. I like the older ones way better myself, I saw them in that order, and I think some of the suspense and fun would be lost viewing them as I through VI. Besides, Harrison Ford is in the older ones, and that's a good thing. ;)

Finally! A good chance to use my cool smileys from Dan!

If I have kids (the idea at the present time frightens me), I probably won't either. And if for some odd reason I do introduce them, then I will start with 4, 5, 6, and then 3, and we can forget 1 and 2 ever happened ;)

defintiely the older ones first. they are true classic star wars and like someone said first impressions are everything. besides i think kids tend to like the newer ones because of the better graphics and cool technology and fight scenes and stuff so i think they'd be disappointed to see the old ones after I, II and III. despite what others have said, i like phantom menace, however II wasn't so hot, and III was terribly done and disappointing.
