Obviously Firefox preforms much worse on a "cold start" on Windows because there is no "cold start" for IE on Windows. Windows always has IE ready to start in memory (and therefore slows everything else down including FF). Same thing with Konqeror (a very heavy browser BTW): when running on KDE it "cold starts" over four times faster than on GNOME because it starts automatically (or at least a large part of it) on KDE being KDE's default file browser; it even out-preforms IE on Windows in that regard.

Anyway, it makes a big difference what type of computer you have so even though I personally couldn't imagine making a decision based on speed of startup, it certainly could be a bigger deal to some people. :D

i use internet explorer.. mozilla firefox is pretty good too. i've used it once before.
