RT

Here's the place for discussing music, plays, YouTube videos, and any other media that doesn't quite fit in the other sections of Harlequin Theatre.

I should find out for everyone. A year and a half ago I was told Radio Theatre was shutting down due to funding, but then new shows kept trickling out (and are still trickling out). While I enjoy their classic stories, Father Gilbert is really the best of the RT library because it's original. That Focus on the Family rep's comments definitely seem to indicate Father Gilbert might be continuing (unless she was referring to Adventures in Odyssey), but I'll try and get a definitive answer.

Bonhoeffer is my favorite. That one is getting repackaged. Tyndale is also going to be repackaging all of the Luke reports into one package and retailing it for $49.97 this upcoming easter season.

Wonderful! I've wanted to get the Luke Reports for a while, but had trouble tracking down the first set. That's perfect! Thanks for the info, jolly! :D

Alright, I looked into it. Here are the bare facts:

- Broadcasts of Radio Theatre will cease December 31, 2005 on all radio stations (in addition to Oneplace).

- Father Gilbert IV is the last new Radio Theatre production to be released.

- The brand of Radio Theatre will continue to exist, and older products will continue to be supported. There are also plans to possibly bundle some Radio Theatres together in the future (it. "Ben Hur", "Billy Budd, Sailor", and "Les Miserables" in an "Adventure Collection").

- Depending on the success of the Narnia Radio Theatres (with the release of the movies), FotF will continue to re-evaluate the status of some Radio Theatre properties (including Father Gilbert). So the more support you show for Radio Theatre's products, the better chance we can bring it back.

So to sum it up, Radio Theatre will no longer be producing new productions :(. However, Radio Theatre will continue to be available in Christian bookstores, with new packaging and anniversary collections (like the 100th Anniversary set of "Bonhoeffer: The Cost of Freedom" in 2006... it's been 100 years since he was born).

I disagree (a lot) with those who say that AIO should be cancelled and the money from that be put into RT. AIO is more dependable and stable, and it is from this program all their other dramas have been inspired. It simply wouldn't make sense to cancel that show.

It's nice that there's plenty of Radio Theatre to choose from when I get the urge to listen to it:
