Katie Holmes. She's one of the only actresses right now that can really act, and isn't just popular because of her body. I have a lot of respect for her. (As an actress, that is.)

NATALIE PORTMAN tops my list! She's not like other actresses that just play any sleazy role they get. Well, I haven't seen closer, but I think her part isn't as bad as it seems. But, I do like most of the characters she's played, like Novalee Nation in Where the Heart Is, which is my most favorite movie ever!
Besides her, though, I like Audrey Hepburn, Miranda Otto, and Sandra Bullock.

That could be because she can't get any roles because she can't act... but I don't mean to be... well, mean. I like a lot of actors some people dislike, too.tatertotaggie wrote:NATALIE PORTMAN tops my list! She's not like other actresses that just play any sleazy role they get.
But I guess that would belong in the "least favorite actress" thread a ways down there, huh?

Ok, I have to stand up for Natalie. She gets offered tons of sleazy roles, and when she turns them down, Christina Ricci gets them. That's what Ricci herself says. And, if it's just Star Wars, the acting's not great, but that's do in a large part to the script. Other movies are great. Ok, there, not to sound argumentative, but I have to stick up for my choice!Mandy Straussberg wrote:That could be because she can't get any roles because she can't acttatertotaggie wrote:NATALIE PORTMAN tops my list! And I totally understand. People feel compelled to stand up for their heroes (favorites, role models...insert whatever word you choose).
I didn't know about those choices, which lends a lot to her character as a person.
However, the true mark of an actor/actress is one who can flourish regardless of the quality of the script (*cough Ewan McGregor cough*).

I have to give you one there. Ewan McGregor is EXCELLENT!
And I have to admit too that Natalie's acting wasn't good in Star Wars, except for one line, which breaks my heart every time I hear it. Anakin is evil and they're on that fiery planet, and her voice cracks and says, "Anakin, you're breaking my heart!" Her best line out of all Star Wars movies.
Have you seen Judy Garland in "A Star is Born?" That was a really good classic movie I had to watch for a film class.

I have to agree that it was the one (and only) line she did well on. However, the dialogue was just so cheesy that it made me laugh too much to be able to actually appreciate the scene.
No, I haven't seen the movie.
