RISK or Chess which is better?????????
RISK or Chess!!!!!!!!!! Because Chess is hard and strategic no chance. It's all brains. And RISK because you're taking over the world!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Well it does take a little strategy too.

I have played Chess longer, so I think that I will go with it. But I like to play RISK also.

Have you played RISK on the computer? It makes for faster games.Jonathan wrote:That is an absolute impossible choice! Both games are put together too ingeniously for one to be better.

Yes, but it was a long time ago. A friend of mine had the first version on his computer, but I haven't played it on computer since the one with that one it caught fire...COWBOY OF TEXAS wrote:Have you played RISK on the computer? Besides, I like playing both of those games with real live people a lot more then with a computer or online or etc.

I think chess. I played Risk one time and it was just too frustrating. I think maybe if I played one of the themed versions I might like it better, though.

Risk because I'm much better at it and because you can play with a group of people.
Though I think Chess is a little more "classic" it has existed for a millenia and will continue to exist. I don't think Risk will be played three centuries from now.

Chess, as no part of it is contingent on chance, nor on other players.
Also, while I know little about them, if one wants a war or diplomacy game, there are many that are far more realistic than Risk that, while chance remains a factor, curtails it significantly and adds many additional factors that better comport to actual strategic considerations. They also generally permit -- and indeed require -- negotiations, alliances, agreements and, of course, the occasional breaking of such or reneging thereupon.
This is not to say that there's anything wrong with Risk, a game that I have enjoyed when I've had the opportunity to play. It just can't match chess, nor indeed is it the best in its category. Its key selling point, I think, is its relative simplicity, especially when you note that many war/diplomacy strategy games have rule books in a somewhat more literal sense -- that is, it's a lot longer than the little foldout you get with Risk. Twenty pages would not be at all uncommon, although in many cases, some of this is filled with charts for the various "situations" that can be played.
