They're Taking the Hobbits to Isengard

Prepare yourself for laughter

If there's something on your mind that just doesn't seem to fall into any of the other categories, well, it quite likely belongs inside Joe Finneman's marketplace. Think of it as a general store for general discussions!

Believe it or not, this has already been posted but I don't suppose it will be locked as it was several months ago...

That's alright....the last reply was in Oct. :)

Here's the original topic. I just moved this to Harliquin but didn't lock it. ;)
The Lord is not slow about His promise, as some count slowness, but is patient toward you, not wishing for any to perish, but for all to come to repentance.

There should be a rule againts nit-picking as well. :noway:

Look, I think it's sort of rude to point out some obscure error as the first reply to a thread. It sort of gets a thread off to a bad start, if you know what I mean? It's just something I've noticed people doing. :)

Anyways, just my two cence.

Hmm, I never really thought of it that way :-k

Does anyone else feel the same way? It certainlly was not my intent to be rude :(

It's fine, really, just try to avoid having the first reply to a thread be a negative one. :)

Examples:
Hopefull Youngster: hey all this is my first thread here oin the too!!! i would like to know about Whit's moustache!!!!

Old ToO Member: Uhh... yeah, great. This is in the wrong section, by the way.

Hopefull Youngster (dreams now shattered): Golly Gee Whilikers!!!! i am sooo sorry! ujmm how do i move it?!?

*thread dies*
Theres a way to convey it to them, just a little nicer. Show interest in the thread as well as correcting them. And try not to do it on the first reply. Thread killing is a dangerous thing. :)

I think I see that now... :-k

So what would you suggest as an alternative "nicer" way to mention it? Any meaty examples of this being put into practice?

Since someone else spared me the pain of getting flamed for starting a new thread, I'll go ahead and post something funny ;-)

On the Lion, the With, and the Wardrobe video game, there's this level (I forget the name of it; it's the big Susan level where you're running back and forth, shooting the two ghouls who are trying to push the rock over and then running back and shooting the wolves while Peter and Edmund protect you--well, at least, they're supposed to). Anyways, my brothers and I were playing it together, and all of a sudden one of the ghouls (the ghouls look a lot like orcs, BTW) grabs Mr. Beaver and throws him over his shoulder!

We were chuckling a little bit at how funny it looked, and then I piped up, "They're taking the Beaver to Isengaard!" At that point we just lost it and started laughing hysterically. We had to pause the game we were laughing so hard! And of course, I had to keep at it: "They're taking the Beaver to Isengaard! They're taking the Beaver Isengaard! The Beaver, the Beaver, the Beaver, the Beaver to Isengaard, Isengaard!"

I just realized something.

Isengard is spelled Isengard.

You spelled it Isengaard.

Blackgaard = Isengaard ?

:-k Some strange... erm... coincidence?

(That was truly funny...especially since I'm watching EB's movie about the One Pinecone...and I have no idea why I just cracked up...)

I think I read all of the old topic for this clip, since I was a mod here in the Harlequin, but I never actually watched it due to a lack of interest in LOTR. I decided to actually watch it now, and it was rather funny! I'm sure that I'm missing the context of where these repeated clips came from, and I'm sure that some editing was involved ;) but it was rather amusing!
