King Lear
Has anyone seen the BBC production, or read the literature piece? Our family saw the movie yesterday, and I must say, it is a rather depressing piece. What do y'all think?

Yep, it's considered a tragedy, along with Hamlet and Romeo and Juliet. I wish Shakespeare wrote happier plays, but the thing with tragedy is that it really brings human nature right out into light.

Yeah, I agree in the gruesome part... The only reason I would enjoy this play is that it helped me to see how blessed we are to have a democracy in our country. I was struck with how much instability there was in the play, under the system of anarchy. It was as if the entire country was in the ballance, and at the helm was a King who was mentally insane...
