I hadn't heard about his death, and now I'm almost crying. I'm a big fan of the Andy Griffith show, and while I started watching it in order to see Hal Smith play the drunk, I loved Don Knotts as Barney.

I am sad. He was awesome as Barney Fife. He was an awesome actor. I wrote him a letter last fall and requested an autograph. I hope he read it. I am glad Andy was with him at the end, great friends, great together.

Yeah, I was sad when I first heard (from this thread) that Don Knotts had died.
He was such a funny actor, especially on The Andy Griffith Show. He will be missed.
