Month #2 Book Poll

Postby Woody » Tue Oct 20, 2015 9:21 pm

Alright folks, it's time to choose our book for the next month of reading! I've chosen five books from the suggestions y'all have provided, so here are your choices:

The Gift of the Magi by O. Henry
The Hunger Games by Suzanne Collins(Note: Violence, if under 13, I would suggest checking with your parents)
Out of the Silent Planet by C.S. Lewis
Fahrenheit 451 by Ray Bradbury (Note: Contains language and violence, putting the same warning here)
The Lightning Thief by Rick Riordan

Vote for the two of these you'd most like to read in the poll above :) The poll will run for one week, after which we'll start reading the selected book on October 28th.

To streamline the process, I would pick up the books that are not available as free ebooks(all except TGotM) that you would read if chosen, from the library(or put holds on them).

I'm gonna be honest and say that I didn't read the first book. :anxious: I'm sorry :( but you know school is like a tornado you can't escape. However, I shall try to read this next book. :)

I'm fairly certain that "Magi" in this instance refers to the Magi that visited Jesus as a baby, considering the story is a Christmas tale.

AIO actually did an adaption of the story called "Gifts for Madge and Guy"

Several of these books would not even be an option for me to read, so I hope the ones I can read get picked. *crosses fingers*

Are both of these available online or are we going to have to haunt the libraries?

I know the hunger games is on Overdrive... I'm unsure about Out of The silent planet. But woody (The doctor) Said he picked books that were generally easy to find. ;)

Will you put up another tiebreaker poll? I can't promise to be around as I'm no longer in the habit of being online, but if I am, I'd vote. :P I find the idea rather interesting.

That third one really intrigues me, and luckily, I already own it on Kindle, though my cover looks different. A great topic by a knowledgeable and enthusiastic author!

Another tie >_>

Alright, since we need to get reading, I'll just make the decision and say we're reading "Out of the Silent Planet".

"The Hunger Games", and possibly some of the other high-scorers of this month, will appear in next month's poll as well. :)
