Starcraft

Post by Elf of Rivendell »

Starcraft-- one of the first good real-time strategy games. And one of my favorite games. No, my very favorite game of all time. :) "My" race is the Protoss.

Does anyone play it? Favorite race? Strategies?

Great, at least one person here knows it. :) Incidentally, a Protoss hero in the game is named Fenix(you probably knew, though). One of the greatest heroes. *emphatic nod*

And speaking of Zerg, I have a friend who loves that race. We have Protoss VS Zerg debates all the time....which usually tends to get ridiculous after a while.

Ever played on battle.net?

I'm a 'zerg' person. I usually create a lot of guardians and attack the enemy base while I send in my lurkers. For air cover I use a mix of Devourer and Mutalisks. I get on Battle.net sometimes... but a lot of the Use Map Settings in there are mindless, such as E V O L V E S.(but I like playing it sometimes LOL)

When I'm in protoss I create a 24 Carriers plus 2 detectors and 4 arbitors with corsairs and attack.

I don't play with terran simply because I'm not that good at them.

Urghh... I hate that message!!!

I also hate:

You require more minerals
You require more Vespene Gas
Additional Supply Depots Required!
You must build additional pylons

You don't see them, but you do hear them. (Uttered in a guttural, unpleasant voice if you happen to play as Zerg.)

I loved Starcraft. I consider it one of the top 10 games of all times.
The balance of very distinct races, the incredible, involving storyline, awe-inspiring soundtrack, the graphics brilliantly ahead of their time... Tears are literally rolling down my cheeks as I remember the beauty that is Starcraft.

The thing that bugged me the most was how multiplayer games so often came down to rushing.

I couldn't say a favorite race. When I was little it was protoss because of those l33t carriers. Now though, I've gained an appreciation for all races.

Starcraft LIVE FOREVER.
Not dead yet.

Yeah I played on battlenet. I should really start playing again before final exams. It would be fun. I havent really played protoss until later in my Starcract career, I was always a terran person. In the end I think Terran is the best race. Becasue all hte units work together so well and I just hate playing against Terran. If you play against a decent terran player then its a lot harder then playing against a decent zerg or protoss player. Terran is just so defensive and and the same time so mobile. Terran is definately not a noob race. Noobs usually pic Protoss and Zerg because with those races they can massively produce one unit. But I love protoss they are so strong and are so cool. Does anyone want to play? Posting here really brought back memories.

I have only played it once. I found it strangely addictive. I wouldn't mind playing more often. I would never play online without lots of practice first.

Yeah, sure! I'd love to play. My skills may have severely deteriorated since the last time I played, though. *shrugs*

U.S. East, U.S. West, Asia, or Europe? Also, what's your battle.net username?

I've played them both but StarCraft still seems more fair than Age of Empires. Though it misses a few functions such as 'idle villagers' or unit formations.

Haha, you guys could play on BattleNet and put up some Town of Odyssey money as a prize :). The loser donates x amount of TOO money to the winner.

Of course you don't have to do that, but it's something that could be fun to try out :). (And this goes for any game!)
