The 4th, Revelation, is really good but you have to have played the original first.
Riven (the second one) remains the absolute best. I would encourage all members here to go get it (you can probably order it for 10 bucks or so). You won't be disappointed!!!

My brother gave me his old CDrom copies of Myst 1-3 (he got the DVD version) a number of months ago and I've yet to put them in my disk drive!

EK, I ended up getting the game today, but I can't figure out the code that you have to enter on that door with five colored buttons. Can you tell me the code?
Sorry guys, I lost internet. Hope to see you again soon!
You mean in exile?
Here's a hint: You have to go around and point all of the little turney things scattered around the island so that the light shines on the door. Think of it as several mirrors reflecting the sunlight all around the island until it hits the door.

There was no appropriate poll response for me...
I own 1-3. 3 is my favorite... I really approve of that game.
I will get 4 and 5 later, after I beat 3 and find myself with a few dozen extra hours and dollars to spare.
Anyway, I am definitely a long time Myst fan, but I don't have any overwhelming degree of faith in the new company that took over the production of Myst IV and V. Because of that, I'm in no rush to get the last games.

yeah I realized I could have structured the poll questions better. I just thought that if you loved it, you had all 4 and were about to get 5. My bad.David O wrote:There was no appropriate poll response for me...

Of all the Myst games 3 (though good) I thought was the worst. 4 is amazing: very well put together and an outstanding story (which is what we all want anyway). Don't worry about the production of 4, they did a great job.David O wrote:I will get 4 and 5 later, after I beat 3 and find myself with a few dozen extra hours and dollars to spare.

Even though I have 5, I haven't played it yet

I've already solved that puzzle. But now it's Voltaic, man I can't figure it out!STRYPER wrote:You mean in exile?

I cheated on that one
in my opinion Voltaic is the worst, most poorly designed level in the entire Myst worlds. It isn't very clear what you need to do and when you do figure it out, it doesn't seem to work
Don't look to me for help on this one!!

That's a relief. If I couldn't solve Voltaic and there were harder levels.... acually, I'd rather not think about that right now.
Thanks for the walk-thru, it's better than what I've been doing. What had me stumped was those valves, deploying the waterwheel, and all to get that elevator running.
Thanks,
Black Hawk

I'm surprised to hear you say that. I really found Riven to be the most challenging of the Myst games I have solved thus far. Riven always left me with the question "where do I go from here?", while Exile has the objectives defined clearly enough that you don't feel lost, yet still feel a sense of accomplishment when you finish. I found myself working through all the puzzles in Myst 3 with just enough difficulty to make me think, but not enough to make me hate it. I like all the games, and based on your recommendations, I will be wanting to try out 4 and 5 pretty soon then.STRYPER wrote:I'll send you a PM of a walkthrough but I don't know if it will help you any. This is literally the hardest level in all the Myst games
Say, what are your opinions on Uru? It didn't sound too great comparitively. The new gaming engine sounds too different for me. I will probably only buy it if the price becomes extravagantly low.
