Needed Episodes

broken CD? lost CD?

Whit's wiping down the counter, Connie's mopping the floor, and the kids are sipping on their milkshakes. If you want to talk about Adventures in Odyssey the radio drama, this is the spot to do just that!

Anyway I was importing all of my Odyssey Collection to my new computer and I saw that I only had album 43 "along for the ride" on tape!
I felt the need to revive this thread to see if anyone has this album on mp3 that they could please send me. Thanks!

This is weird:

Disc 4 of album 39: Friends, Family, and Countrymen is supposed to be:
(i forget #1)
The Pact, Part 1
The Pact, Part 2

But....instead it has:
#1
For Trying Out Loud (which is already on the album....so I have it twice)
The Pact, Part 1

In conclusion, I've only listened to the Pact, Part 2 at my friends' house.....Once
:(

I have an older copy

I think I'm gonna contact Focus

Sorry, my previous request seems to be getting left un-noticed.

Does anyone have album 43 on hand that they could please send me?

I was wrong in my first post.

My Disc 4 is:

1. R. Annoying
2. For Trying Out Loud (again)
3. The Pact, PART 2

It seems For Trying Out Loud took place of Part 1 of The Pact....So now I need Part 1

Sad day :(

1. The Tin Man
2. For Trying Out Loud
3. The Benefit of the Doubt

To make it easier to send try these uploading hosts.

http://www.mediafire.com
http://www.megaupload.com
http://www.sendspace.com

When you upload it then send the link to the user who wanted the episode. Just thought I'd help out. The links I mentioned are free to use.

I hope it's OK to bump this thread.

I didn't want to start a new post when this was already talking about an issue I've experienced.

For various reasons, I am slow at catching up with the show. I was a steady listener in the 90s and around album 29 I no longer had the disposable income to buy new albums.

Fast forward to 2010-a powerful sense of nostalgia made me want to catch up on the show. I stocked up on old and new albums I missed out on in that time frame, buying up many albums in a short amount of time.

Then another life change-I moved, the CD albums I bought then ended up boxed up and out of sight out of mind and all.

Then I recently bought a new car with the ability to play MP3s from a flash drive. A powerful sense of nostalgia and realizing I could rip all of those albums to MP3 and dump them on a flash drive, I would have months of listening to AIO while driving my car!

I came across defective CD after defective CD. So far, I am aware of three albums that were affected that I could not rip to CD. I am afraid there may be more that ripped but there may be skips or stutters in the final MP3s and I won't realize them until months from now when I listen to them on my flash drive. I've collected CDs since they came out in the 80s and only had maybe four total CDs that stopped playing or had any issues. This is an exceptionally unusual problem for the AIO CDs.

Granted, these were purchased 7 years ago. I don't expect free replacements after all this time. Nor do I want to download replacements for the defective episodes. Has anybody here ever had any luck in getting FOTF to realize they made defective CDs?

I ordered new albums recently to fill in holes in my collection and noticed none of the CDs have that milky white appearance compared to the ones that I had problems with. All the new albums ripped to MP3 without any issues.

I think by now I could replace those defective albums but let's face it: they are not cheap. Replacing one out of pocket is one thing, three is really driving up my cost. And I understand some responsibility must be borne by me by waiting 7 years before I got around to doing anything with them to listen to the episodes.

So I suspect in the past 7 years, FOTF "fixed the glitch" and found a new plant to make their CDs. Did they come to realize the error of their ways? Has anybody had any luck with them replacing the defective sets or offering a deep discount on replacements?

This isn't a direct answer, but I don't know if you know... AIO is now available in steaming form online via their AIO Club. You can pay a monthly fee and have access to every album. You may not want to do that now, but I thought I'd let you know.

Yes, I am aware of the club.

I am not a fan of streaming. Call me old fashioned but I like the physical product. And streaming does not replace my defective property.

But since you brought it up, I do have a question about the club (and can spin this off into another thread if need be): I understand there are unreleased episodes on there. Are they just available for streaming or also for download?

Only for streaming, unfortunately. They only released a couple of the exclusive episodes (I think) for download (for members and non-members).

That is disappointing. I noticed the new albums coming out are only two discs and now half the content is just online.

Are those episodes also just available for streaming or also download?

To quote Lando in Empire Strikes Back "This deal is getting worse all the time!"

Why would they want to make it so hard for fans to have access to the episodes?

Well, I sent an email to FOTF today regarding the issue. I figure it doesn't hurt to ask. I told them I am not expecting free replacements after all this time but wanted to see if they could offer a discount on the albums I need to replace so it's not so expensive for me. I will keep you posted at how that goes.

Does anybody have a copy of the episode You Go to School Where?

-- Fri Mar 17, 2017 11:12 pm --

UPDATE: I waited a long time and no response from Focus on the Family. It's really frustrating. Do they commonly have such terrible customer service?

I emailed Christianbook.com, where I originally ordered the CDs. I simply asked for a discount code to get the replacement CDs cheaper than list price.

They didn't bat an eye. They put the replacement sets in the mail before I even knew what happened.

So a TIP OF THE HAT to Christianbook for going way above and beyond at replacing the defective CDs!

A WAG OF THE FINGER to FOTF for completely ignoring me!
