Odyssey + the Real World

Whit's wiping down the counter, Connie's mopping the floor, and the kids are sipping on their milkshakes. If you want to talk about Adventures in Odyssey the radio drama, this is the spot to do just that!

One of my colleagues just had a baby and named him Avery. I love that name. Who wouldn't want to be named after a label brand name.

Last night I was wondering why a particular knot was called a "sheepshank"...

So I theorized that it was invented by Katrina Shanks. \:D/

Haha, Siv.
a lot of things remind me of Odyssey. the library, for one. \:D/

Today in my english class, we read a short story and one of the characters was named Eugene. He was tall with blonde hair, wore glasses, liked reading books and was in all honors classes!

A few days ago in school my math teacher told us to turn to chapter 14, and when I asked what page it was he said "three-eighteen"
and then under my breath I added "ninety" completing 3-18-99.

Of course I was offended that he felt he needed to keep the real page number a secret. O:)

In some salepaper advertisement (gearing up for Easter I think), I saw the words "Giant lollipops" in pastel colors on big egg-shaped lollipops. I read the phrase "giant lollipops" in the pseudo-British accent in which Walter Shakespeare said, "With a bit of paint, we could cover up the giant lollipops!"

We're getting ready to read Othello for one of my classes. Every time my teacher mentions it, though, I hear Erica Clark mispronouncing it in my head. :-

Also, for the same class I read a script for part of a Seinfeld episode (the one where Jerry is trying to come up with an idea for a TV show... nice little self-parody there), and the following exchange reminded me so much of AIO that I pretty much wrote my entire annotation on Odyssey... and not so much on the script itself. :anxious:
George: You run an antique store… and people come in the store and you get involved in their lives.
Jerry: So someone comes in to buy an old lamp and all of a sudden I’m getting them out of a jam? I could see if I was a pharmacist because a pharmacist knows what’s wrong with everybody that comes in.
George: I know, but antiques are very popular right now.
Jerry: No they’re not, they used to be.

I was working drive thru the other day and this guy came through and he honestly sounded just like Bart Rathbone, same mannerism and language I should have got his number for Focus on the Family :anxious:

Possible competition for Robert Easton!?

Anyways, I was reminded of AIO when I read a short story that mentioned a woman named Monica Sone.

I always think of Howard J. Wiesel when I sing "Rescue the Perishing" by Fanny Crosby at church. The fourth verse says

Rescue the perishing, duty demands it;
Strength for thy labor the Lord will provide;
Back to the narrow way patiently win them;
Tell the poor wand’rer a Savior has died.

All I can think of is "Duty demands it! Honor demands it! Justice demands it!"

1. I visited a place called Odenton yesterday.
2. I just noticed (at the end of the semester) that a professor and Jellyfish have something in common - the name Myron! \:D/

In Lit class today, we talked about reading the play Fences next week, and my first thought was, didn't we already read that? :-k

I didn't realize until later that I was thinking of the Odyssey episode. \:D/
