Again I doubt anyone's seen this and the topic is pretty late but I was mainly curious because there are many debate topics that have stemmed from the movie and could be interesting topics to talk about on the ToO (you wouldn't need to know about the movie to talk about it though)
Yeah, I've seen it, and I read the graphic novel forever ago.
It's pretty decent - not my favorite movie ever but it was good. The graphic novel was better in my opinion, but Blankets is the best graphic novel of all time.

Yeah well I haven't gotten around to reading Blankets..xiao wrote:Yeah, I've seen it, and I read the graphic novel forever ago.

One thing that made me mad is they didn't have the Squid
A Dr. Manhattan cover up? What were they thinking?
Quickly read it - it's absolutely amazing. (But everyone else WATCH OUT FOR ITS DEPICTIONS OF EVIL SEX!! )
Although it is in the context of love...
Anyways, yeah, kind of strange they took the squid out but it probably wouldn't have translated well to the screen, and there was already a ton going on at once.

Point taken.. -sigh- pretty good anyway. I liked how it ended and Ozymandias PWNSxiao wrote:Quickly read it - it's absolutely amazing. (But everyone else WATCH OUT FOR ITS DEPICTIONS OF EVIL SEX!! )

Did you ever see 300? Same director, etc...
I thought 300 was better.

Yeah 300 was better. I think it was on a whole new level of epic imoxiao wrote:Did you ever see 300? Same director, etc...

Watchmen passed pretty fast for me even though it was long. While on 300 I could feel each minute passing and I loved it.

Meh, none of the DC comics-turned-movies have impressed me thus far (save for the newest Batman movies), so even if it was a cleaner flick than it is now (which wouldn't have been hard to do *chortles*), I probably wouldn't watch it .
300 looks intriguing, though. Might watch that at some point.

I mean it's not that "dirty" of a movie.Iron and Light wrote:Meh, none of the DC comics-turned-movies have impressed me thus far (save for the newest Batman movies), so even if it was a cleaner flick than it is now (which wouldn't have been hard to do *chortles*), I probably wouldn't watch it .

If your a real D.C. fan you wouldn't see Nolanverse as D.C. you would see it as "blasphemy" Good or not but Nolan is so caught up in doing his thing that he's neglected many of the things that make Batman the important character he's in Comics today.. ok maybe one or two but they ARE important
And Watchmen is on a different level of D.C. Though yes it can be violent, though the only thing that really disturbed me is seeing this guy's cheek get ripped off

I wasn't referring to the violence. Violence has never really disturbed me in the slightest.
The nude dude, however, is disturbing .
And I can't honestly say that I'm a fan of any comics. So .

In all honesty Watchmen isn't as graphic as the Passion, all you have to do is skip over two or three scenes. And the nude dude is awesome
And even if he is nude, the only thing inappropriate that I saw was his rear end, so yeah... nothing all that bad about him. But there are actual scenes of sexual nature that one has to watch out for.
The nude dude? Not the sex scene?
How is a nude person "disturbing"? Were you not raised as a human being? That's the human body... get over it!
It's okay if you're disturbed by the violence... or even the sex... but a nude guy?

You might be going over the top there man. Were suppposed to have respect for other people's bodies. Which is why we tend to flinch from naked people.
The Blue Guy didn't disturb me because he isn't human but if my gf (before she broke up with me ) or my best friend were to walk into a room naked I would be disturbed slightly. I don't want to be comfortable with that level of intimacy until I am married Oh and naked people on t.v. is a little less disturbing so I can agree with you on that point.
I'm afraid to ask this, but your saying your not disturbed by seeing someone naked?

The sex scene disturbs me, too. But at least you can fast-forward that .xiao wrote:The nude dude? Not the sex scene?

They're not having sex THROUGHOUT. Right ?
The blue guy in the buff, however, is throughout.
There. Satisfied with the explanation that you didn't need ?
And Johnny, thank you for your post. It explains things quite well.
Actually, IaL, they are having sex throughout the entire length of the film. Once those two characters popped, they just couldn't stop.
Yeah, I see what you mean, but I just mean isn't it a little strange to be offended and disturbed by a CGI nude male, and not by the killing, blood, guts, and violence in the movie?

Personally both of you made good points, but Xiao you hinted that there's no problem with watching nude people. It would seem that your changing around your point.xiao wrote:Actually, IaL, they are having sex throughout the entire length of the film. Once those two characters popped, they just couldn't stop.

Well, I don't think there's a problem with nudity if it's done in a tasteful way. Or even sex or violence in a film.
However excessive nudity is obviously a problem. Although I'm not sure if I would call nudity "disturbing" ever. It makes sense in the context of the film. Obviously if someone were to walk into this room nude, I'd be a little disturbed - but if I was at a nude camp, it would make a lot more sense - it would be in context. Get it?
