Thor (PluggedIn Loves It)

Post by American Eagle »

PluggedIn's homepage:
Marvel's latest superhero movie celebrates the Norse god of thunder in all his blond, hammer-wielding glory. What, then, could Plugged In possibly find to like about this flick? You might be surprised.
The reviewer is defending the movie in its brief description. :o The rest of the review actually has some good things to say about it. Now I can be excited. \:D/

So... anyone going to see it soon?

I saw it at 12:01am today. \:D/

It was pleasing. Like I assume PluggedIn says, it has a good message and is relatively "clean".

Just be sure to stay until after the credits.

Almost everybody is always lame and leaves as the credits start. (I know there was something grammatically incorrect about that sentence) We always watch through the credits to catch any extra funny stuff they throw in (in the credits of Finding Nemo, Mike from Monster's Inc. swims by with a snorkel, then at the very end an angler fish gets what's coming to him...)

No, I have not seen Thor.

Hmm...Very interesting. Though I doubt that I will ever see it, but I might be able to get my parents to go watch it. ;)

YEAH!!! It was so good! Some of my friends took me to it, and I have to say, it was a lot better than I expected. The special effects were really good. Not good one second and cheesy the next, (like Narnia #-o ), but they were solid the whole way through. And I have to say, it was a fairly light PG-13. There were only a few "words" and none of the violence was gory, (due to all of the bad guys being made of ice.) It was AWESOME!

Yeah I was pleasantly surprised at the lack of bad language and innuendo (the extent of it was basically in the commercials).

Thor: the experience was choked by having to watch it in 3D. :( Seriously, why do so many people think it's so great? I actually would have been able to enjoy the movie more if I didn't have to wear the uncomfortable glasses and get a headache.

Other then that, the movie wasn't... bad. It was incredibly predictable, though, and was barely captivating in terms of a plot line. Visually it was another stunning accomplishment of CG, but I'm quite tired of movies that spend their huge budgets on creating the most complex visual effects and give the script writers whatever is left over. Good plot > visual effects. Not that the plot was bad... it just wasn't great, and the script was littered with the most predictable lines you can imagine.

Of course, this is all coming from someone who barely knows anything about the Marvel universe. I imagine all the comic fans and people who actually know the story behind Thor will appreciate this movie far more then I did. ;) And I admit; the concept that all these Marvel characters exist in the same world with plot threads that mix the movies together makes me excited for the Avengers.

hah what? ;) Actually Thor rates higher on my list then 2012 does.

..and don't drag up some old post of mine where I probably said it was amazing or something. :(
