The Motion Picture Archives (MPA)

Posted: Wed Dec 28, 2011 11:28 pm
by American Eagle
Welcome to The Motion Picture Archives (the MPA, for short), a new section of Harlequin Theatre! \:D/

Upon approval from Catspaw and our current admin team, I began going through the many pages in Harlequin, and hand-picked all the topics about movies/films/motion pictures. The idea behind the MPA is to create a more organized forum experience.

Here's the deal:
1. All the topics specifically about individual movies have been listed here.
2. If you want to start a discussion about a movie, check the MPA FIRST. We may already have a topic about it. This way, you won't miss out on reviews others have written about your movie!
3. If your film is not listed here, go ahead and start a new discussion! You could also post a link to the new discussion in this topic so I know to update this page. If you forget, don't sweat it. I'll try to keep an eye out for new topics. Update: bookworm has taken over as curator of this index, you can pm him to get a new thread added.
4. Series (such as VeggieTales, Star Wars, Narnia) are listed together. Companies (Pixar, Sherwood Pictures) are not.
5. It may be helpful for you to highlight the title you're looking for by using Control F on Windows or Command F on Mac.
6. "The" is always dropped from the title. For example, The Karate Kid is categorized under "K".

Frequently Asked Questions:

Won't this cause bumping of topics created several years ago?
Yes, it sure will. That's a good thing, though. Some types of topics deserve to be bumped, such as "Post a Picture of Yourself", "Questions for Catspaw", Odyssey episode topics, and now movie topics.

Why do we even need Archives?
Well, in recent weeks, three different threads have been created about The Dark Knight Rises. This takes up more space and splits discussion that should be contained in one thread. If we utilize The MPA correctly, we'll have a more organized forum.

What if there are already two topics about a film?
As I went through the pages of HT, I saw many cases of a movie having two topics discussing it - sometimes only months apart. For all those threads, we'll just leave them be. Only the topics that are linked from the MPA deserve our attention. Forget any duplicates.

Also, I laughed at the "pheasant" vs. "peasant" typo/joke/whatever. Good times!

Well done, AE \:D/ I think that this will prove extremely useful in the future.

...so, may I go start threads on all of the movies that aren't on the MPA? O:)
Jesus' Princess wrote:(one thing, you misspelled peasant as pheasant  )
Maybe he meant to do that :-

Question! How come the first three Twilight movies aren't on there? Do people, *gasp* actually notwant to discuss them? \:D/

And only one Star Wars? :(

I guess I'm just nervous that people won't like my work. ;) Thanks.
Musical Shutterbug wrote:...so, may I go start threads on all of the movies that aren't on the MPA? O:)
If you are genuinely interested in those movies, go for it! I don't recommend starting a bunch of empty threads about films that you don't even care about, though. ;) I think there's like a no-spam rule or something.

It actually was unintentional, but I've made that mistake before. ;)

It's not my fault. People just never started those topics. \:D/ There were a lot of topics like "Star Wars vs. LOTR", "Discuss your favorite Star Wars characters!", "Is Twilight evil?", but we didn't really have many threads specifically about the movies.

I've had a change of heart! :x I disapprove of this! AE, you should be banned for even thinking of this! AE is planning on giving us false information about every single tv show and movie.
I'm shocked that even I succumbed to his trickery! Even more so shocked at Monty and Catspaw for falling prey to AE.

:x

This is actually a good idea. I commend AE of thinking of this. Makes it easier for everybody. And heh, I actually forgot about this until I looked in Harlequin's... xD

I think I started at least one...if I recall correctly, its title was "Twilight: Love Story Or Occultic Horror Flick?". It was a good few pages, too; at least eight. Not nearly as bad as "Twilight Or Harry Potter?", though.
