America's Got Talent (Season 7)

Post by bookworm »

After sporadically following the last season of AGT I decided I would watch it this season.
If anyone else is watching this thread can be used for discussion.

There’s something I don’t understand. Maybe I’m just missing something because I’m new to the show.
If it only takes two yes votes to move on, why is there such suspense for the revealing of the last vote once an act has two yeses in a row? Do they get an extra bonus for getting three or something?

There aren't extra points for three yeses, but it's just extra nice for all the judges to like the act. (and I think some people don't realize they only need 2)

Also to add that the judges have a very big impact on the voters as well as your reputation. Get constant praises from the judges and your odds of getting voted in increases dramatically.

But of course we all know that yet another singer is going to win this years America's got talent. After all, we Americans love singers above all other talents. I just really really really hope I am wrong.

What drew me in last season was Piers Morgan, I like him. So I’m disappointed he’s not a judge anymore.

I like Howard Stern. But Piers Morgan was a great judge. He was my favorite.

Something I've noticed about Brittain's got Talent, is that they tend to enjoy dancers, much in the same way Americans enjoy singers (correct me if I'm wrong about that).

My brother says the same thing. And he tends to like the dancers. I don't really watch many talent shows like that, besides BGT. Which I really didn't like the winner for this year. A dancing dog won, instead of a really good pair of singers!

I loved that audition with the huge harp :) Not something you see every day.

Joy: I get what you're saying, but I think people wanted something original to win, instead of just singers or dancers (which have won the previous seasons)

The Olate Dogs were amazing! I think they have the winner right there, they can stop the auditions.

Did anyone see Monday night's episode with Tim Poe, the war veteran? Apparently, he lied about his traumatic brain injury and the stuttering was just an act. It's been all over the news online the last couple of days.

I saw his audition, and thought it was great, but it's sad to know that he made it up.

If it’s true he made it up that’s despicable.

Obviously it was to appeal to emotional support for his performance. Howard was right on when he said he didn’t feel like he had to do ‘vocal tricks’ during his song. Of course he didn’t, he had everyone rooting for him before he even started.

But if his story is false, how on earth did he think he could get away with it?
Whatever the case, I’ll be very interested to see what happens when he comes back in Vegas. It will undoubtedly be addressed.
