Your top 5 favorite bands/artists of ALL TIME

Post by Taps »

This is insanely hard for me. I love so many bands/artists that the thought of narrowing my favorites down to 5 is near impossible, however at this moment these are my top 5.

(In no particular order)

1. Five Iron Frenzy
2. David Crowder*Band
3. Family Force 5
4. Owl City
5. House of Heroes/Relient K (I honestly cannot choose between these two)

Honorable Mentions: Brave Saint Saturn, Capital Lights, Children 18:3, Thousand Foot Krutch, Write This Down, Lecrae.

What are your top 5 favorite bands/artists of all time?

This is almost impossible!

Could we narrow it down to genres? O:) I have about thirty favorite film score composers, followed by about twenty bands and fifty thousand artists :(

Aww, Kait, I love that you listed Josh Groban, good memories - I met him some years back at a concert *le sigh*. "Per Te" is probably my favorite song of his. :)

I'm more of a song person than a band/artist person, but if I had to make a list on the basis of artists who have a lot of songs I like (as opposed to one or two songs I *really* like) it might look like:

1. Dido. I am almost embarrassed by this, but I honestly probably listen to her stuff more than any other singer.
2. Orbital
3. Poets of the Fall
4. Paul Van Dyk
5. Kind of an even tie between Zero 7 and Thievery Corporation.

....It seems that Sherlock likes her electronics. ;)

Good topic. I love expanding on my favorite artists. \:D/

1. Florence and the Machine. Great if you like that Indie rock stuff.
2. Enya.
3. The Fray.
4. Britney Spears. She is amazing, after all.
5. Tenth Avenue North.

I love Thievery Corporation. I only have one Zero 7 song but I like that too.

Anyway, my favourites:

1. Björk
2. Deep Forest
3. Arcade Fire
4. Karin Dreijer (Fever Ray, The Knife, whatever she's in is good)
5. Damon Albarn
(6. Vitas)

Had to mention the 6th just because. Damon Albarn and Vitas might be tied, but that's a hard one. I'm in love with them for different reasons.

I listen to music in a weird way. Most of the time I listen to a song on repeat 1 for hours and hours cause I'm either reading or studying and it needs to be a slow enough song that I don't even notice it. It just blocks out all other distractions.
Other than that I only listen to music in the gym and I don't really care what I listen to then. That is why I only have one favorite, because they have good studying music.

This is a bit difficult for me....but I shall do my best to list my favorites in no particular order:

1. Tenth Avenue North
2. Hillsong
3. Beyonce
4. Josh Groban
5. Superchick
6. Civil Wars (I have to list them because they are one the most original bands I've heard in a long time)

Runners up: (of no less significance, but still): DC talk, Jars of Clay, Leona Lewis, Mumford and Sons, Relient K (older CDs), and mostly anything I can dance to)

1. Bon Iver
2. Sufjan Stevens
3. Fleet Foxes
4. Animal Collective
5. Beach House

That took me about an hour to figure out...

1. Owl City
2. Relient K
3. House of Heroes

Those are my three definite choices. :-k I'm hesitant to label any others as "favorites" because they're either relatively new additions to my playlist or I haven't listened to a large portion--or even most--of their songs, or because my feelings for them flip-flop from time to time. The candidates are:

- Falling Up!
- Brave Saint Saturn
- Family Force 5
- Coldplay
- Tenth Avenue North

On a mostly unrelated note, I've come to the realization that literally none of the bands I regularly listen to have female lead singers, with the partial exception of Children 18:3, which has a prominently featured female backup singer. :( I'm not certain as to why so few female voices appeal to me, and why out of those artists none of them are able to keep my continued interest.

Aw man. At first I thought you were talking about that really intense Jamaican dancehall woman, but then I realised her name is Patra.

My top favorites come and go... depends on what I'm in the mood for. But pretty steady, in no order:

Hands
Sent By Ravens
Owl City
RED
Abandon

Leeland holds a dear place in my heart, and Daniel Eric Groves is the way to go for worship. Aside from those bands, I have at least a hundred favorite songs... so I like shuffle the best. I rarely listen to a complete album unless I'm running...

Give Me Rest is what I listen to for background music... I barely no any of the lyrics, but it all blurs together in this incredible mix. When I pay attention I know what they're saying. <3

And nooo, though I feel like you've suggested them before... I should get to it. \:D/
