The Lone Ranger

Post by bookworm »

Anyone planning to see this?

I don’t know much about the Lone Ranger, never seen the show or anything, but these two trailers have made me kind of interested in this. The first one made me think ‘Eh, that looks sort of neat.’ and the second made me think ‘That actually looks pretty cool!’ I doubt I’ll be seeing it in the theater, but I think I’ll have to check it out when it’s in a Redbox.

I've seen a trailer here and there, and it looks interesting. Ruth Wilson is in it, and aksldjf I love her to no end, so the likelihood of me seeing it is big - just not as big as some movies coming out this summer.

The Lone Ranger is awesome! I've listened to many of the old time radio shows of it growing up and I've seen a few of the TV eps. I'm cautiously excited for this film cause I've seen what was done with the Green Hornet. :x I'm not crazy about Johnny Depp but I'm hoping it will turn out okay. As long as they keep the characters true to the originals and keep it clean, I'll see it.

It amused me that Tonto was credited before the Lone Ranger. :P

You mean you weren't disappointed that Seth Rogen isn't playing the Lone Ranger!?

But yeah, I think Disney will the Lone Ranger handle it better than... whoever it was that handled his nephew, Green Hornet. I actually found Green Hornet entertaining but it definitely wasn't... traditional Green Hornet by any means. I liked the occasional homage to Bruce Lee, though. >_> And I think there was a Lone Ranger poster or something somewhere. So at least they remembered his heritage, vaguely.

I've seen some of the old, original Lone Ranger movies/episodes and liked them. I'm curious to see what this remake will be like; I do like Johnny Depp :)

I've never seen any of the original Lone Ranger stuff, but I'm definitely going to see this. \:D/

Johnny Depp is one of my least favorite actors. I'd have to think about it.

Yeah, I've gotten pretty tired of Depp... I don't like how in the marketing at least Tonto is sort of headlining over the Lone Ranger, but obviously Depp has more star power than Hammer. I doubt I'll see this in theaters in less it gets incredible reviews (doesn't look too bad or anything, but lots of other stuff I want to see is coming out, and movies are expensive ;)), but I'll definitely check it out at home eventually.

I'm probably not going to see it in the theater, but based on the fact that Johnny Depp is playing Tonto, I'm sure I'll be seeing it eventually :)

I will be seeing this in the theater after all. I have a little group that’s really looking forward to it.
It hasn’t reached our theater yet, but we will go as soon as it does.

In the meantime, I hear it’s really bombing in the rest of the country, which surprises me.

Have any of you seen it yet?

I saw it, and I personally loved it.

Though, my hopes weren't entirely high to begin with, so it was a nice surprise.

I saw it in the Czech Republic in a '4DX' theater. The seats moved around and there was air blowing and stuff. It was funny.

I thought the movie was ok.

Yeah, I ended up seeing it after all when the situation presented itself. After seeing how poorly it was performing I went in with low expectations, but I ended up really enjoying it. Certainly not the greatest film in history or anything, but it was perfectly enjoyable.

Apparently our theater decided to bail on this because it’s no longer on their coming attractions. I think they got scared off by the reportedly negative response. I’m really upset, because we could have gone somewhere else to see it, but we intentionally waited until they had it to support the local theater, and now they aren’t going to show it after all and it’s no longer showing anywhere else. They can’t just say they’ll have it and then change their mind! :x
Now we’re going to get together at someone’s house and watch it when it gets to On Demand.

Oh man, that's unfortunate. We have a super-cheap theater that plays current stuff a couple towns over, every now and then they will pull an advertised showing and just keep showing the movie from the week before if its doing well. They only have one screen so they are limited. I don't go there too often, though... with gas prices it isn't really much more expensive to go to the theater around the corner during matinee pricing.

We have a "Dollar Theater" in town as well... but they are like $2 now. >_> They don't show stuff until its been out of the regular theaters for a while, though.

Yeah we easily could have gone to the next city, or even the next one, but we specifically wanted to see it here. I guess this is the risk of a small town theater, they can only show one movie at a time so they have to choose carefully.

I listened to some of the old Lone Ranger radio shows growing up and I was interested in seeing the movie but then my parents told me it was rated PG-13. I was very disappointed.
