New Baby Cows!

A few pictures of the calves born on my farm

If there's something on your mind that just doesn't seem to fall into any of the other categories, well, it quite likely belongs inside Joe Finneman's marketplace. Think of it as a general store for general discussions!

New Baby Cows!

Post by BlessedCheesemaker »

We are in the middle of calving season on my family's farm. Here are a few pictures of the new babies:
Honeysuckle was named by my little sister after she heard the Novacom Saga again.Image
Phylantha and her mother, Petunia are my cows. All of the cows in that family are named after flowers. I ran out of flower names that started with P, then I found out that Phylantha means lover of flowers.Image
We feed all of the calves together out of this feeder.Image

Aww, they're all so cute! :D

We recently visited some friends who have a goat dairy, and they have a similar feeder for the kids.

I've milked goats at friends' houses. Never a cow though. I have friends who make goat cheese. All different kinds. Haven't tasted any yet. Wallace, the calves are so cute! I used to houseclean for a family who owned a cattle farm.

We are expecting 62 baby cows (better MS?) this spring. We have already had over 40, so we are getting close to being done.

Wow! That's quite a few. We had 3 this year, but we only raise them for meat/sale, so we don't need that many.

It was funny actually (after the fact!), I'd just read this thread, and I looked out the window and saw that one of our calves had gotten out somehow, and was standing on the sand by our pond looking at me through the window. :P

Awww, they're so cute I can't take it. *squees happily* My grandparents own a dairy farm, and the last time we visited I helped feed the calves one afternoon. :inlove:

I thought this was amusing today - there was a huge black and white Great Dane at market today, and a little toddler pointed at it and said, "COW! Mooooooo!" \:D/

 That is funny! I saw a black and white great dane at Petsmart. I can definitely see how a little kid would mistake it for a cow.

We used to call our neighbors dog a cow. I do not know what kind it was but it was white and had big black spots all over it. :bounce:
