Jeopardy tournament first

Post by bookworm »

Just recently we had something unusual, now we have something unheard of. On multiple levels.

The first round of this year's college tournament just concluded. If you are familiar with the Jeopardy tournament format you know that the players who advance to the next round are the five winners of the weekly matches, then the four highest final scores among nonwinners. However for the first time ever, in any of their tournaments, three nonwinners finished with the same amount of what would have been the second highest score. The tiebreaker goes to the player who had more going into Final Jeopardy, which took care of one of them; but the other two were also tied there! The second tiebreaker goes to the player who had most going into Double Jeopardy, so they had to go back to that to determine the final advancing player.
