I liked it fairly well... especially the old gamey stuff. I got kind of tired of the Candy Land place, but it was still good overall.

Poor homeless Q*Bert almost made me cry. :(

I was surprised so much time was spent there, I thought there was going to be more game hopping. But that was just done at the beginning and then the real story unfolded there. It worked for me though. And I loved the Wizard of Oz reference. (King Candy’s Oreo guards.)

I keep a framed portrait of Q*Bert on my wall to show my solidarity for him.

My little brother got this for his birthday. I liked it, though I'm not much of a gamer and most of the references went over my head. The story was pretty decent and I didn't see the twist at the end coming. Like bookworm I was really impressed by the emotional twist in the movie. I did get a phone call during the big climax, so I'll have to re-watch the end sometime. I'm interested to see what they may do with a sequel. The only thing I disliked was a few of the unnecessary names that Ralph and Venellope called each other and used. Didn't ruin it at all, but it didn't need to be in there either. Reminded me of a certain character from the Tangled movie that didn't need to be in it at all either. All in all, I think this movie was almost as good as any Pixar film, I'm impressed by the good stories that Disney has been putting out lately.

As am I. :)

Finally saw this, and it was great! I see something of a new genre in Big Epic Animation films that are emerging recently. Pixar had a head start, but now more studios are producing unique, heart warming, family friendly stories that inhabit big epic animated worlds. \:D/

I saw this a few weeks back, and decided to post about it.
I honestly don't remember too much about it.....
I also wasn't hit emotionally by it like bookworm was. I was quite sad when Ralph broke the cart, but that was the extent. I liked the movie quite a bit. It moved at a good pace, had some nice little themes, and did well for me. Beyond that, I don't know, I'll have to see it again.

Watched it last night! Loved it just as much the second time around! :D
This is just such a great movie! My main takeaway from it this time was the same as in the theater, I was amazed at how emotionally exhausting it is for a ‘kids’ movie. Even now that I knew everything that was coming, it still all hit me just as hard, and possibly even harder.

When the first plot twist (about the ‘real’ reason Vanellope can’t race) came I was overcome by the same feeling as I had been in the theater. That time I would have described it as stunned silence, but this time it wasn’t because I knew what was going to happen, so it wasn’t stunned, but I don’t know what else to call it.
And when it got to the part where Ralph destroys her cart, I’m not going to lie, I actually cried. One tear from each eye. I was absolutely blown away by how intense that moment was, due to the magnificent lead up through all the rest of the film. The whole thing was so incredibly well done.

Speaking of well done, one thing that definitely hit me harder in the second viewing was Ralph’s attempt to sacrifice himself at the end. This time I really took in the full impact, and it was amazing. Even though he ended up being saved, the scene was crafted so perfectly that it didn’t lose any of the drama or emotion at all. The entire thing was put together simply perfectly, from his one line (“It’s game over for both of you!” “No, just for me.”) to him clutching the homemade medal and reciting the Bad Guy Affirmation as he fell. Absolutely amazing.

And once again, the sheer genius of the world creation has to be mentioned. From the plays on words to the graphical details, the entire setting was superb.
A few great elements I didn’t mention in my first post:
Game Central Station being the power strip, with the different outlets as the various game stops.
The customs officer being a surge protector.
8 bit cake stains when Ralph crashes the party (literally).
Now that I’ve seen it twice my judgment is official; this is one of my all time favorite movies.

...I know the companies wouldn't cooperate for more than movie cameos but it would be awesome if there was a regular series that just mixed up a bunch of arcade characters together like that. >_> Bowser was only ever in one arcade game, but glad he got to cameo.

I just realized off the top of my head there has never been a Sonic the Hedgehog arcade game, but they had him doing instructional videos there. THE MOVIE IS RUINED FOR ME! :x

It's certainly not impossible there was some random game with him in it that made it to arcades, though... Sega has done lots of arcade cabs, more than Nintendo.

Heh, I didn’t even realize it should have been only arcade games, I was just thinking video games in general. Nice catch Top. (Not surprising that you would be the one to get it. ;) )

Eh, ticket redemption games aren't really... video games. There is no actual video game playing involved, you just try to aim your token or quarter down a shoot and get tickets so you can save up thousands and get a Tootsie Roll or something. :noway:

They had that same machine locally here back in the day, in an arcade with a giant worm on top (good times, good times). It was broken or not calibrated right or something, and you could just give it a good wack and tickets would come out. \:D/

Oh, something I forgot to mention is the end credits are superb. That’s a sign of how completely great this movie is, that even the credits are amazing.

I totally just saw it tonight, and I was extremely impressed. I didn't expect it to be such a good story! Also, I love Owl City's song for the end credits.
