This concludes the Weekly Football Pool for the 2013 season.

The Cumulative Pool will continue through the Super Bowl. There is also now a new competition available to enter: the Playoff Bracket. This is a completely separate thing, anyone that wants to participate can enter, even if they didn’t play the Football Pool at all.

If you want to enter, send me $5 then fill out this bracket and post your results. That’s all there is to it, it will require no further action.
AFC:

(Wild Card Round)
Chargers (#6) @ Bengals (#3)
Chiefs (#5) @ Colts (#4)

(Divisional Round)
[highest numbered remaining seed] @ Broncos (#1)
[lowest numbered remaining seed] @ Patriots (#2)

(Division Championship)
[lowest numbered remaining seed] @ [highest numbered remaining seed]

NFC:

(Wild Card Round)
Saints (#6) @ Eagles (#3)
49ers (#5) @ Packers (#4)

(Divisional Round)
[highest numbered remaining seed] @ Seahawks (#1)
[lowest numbered remaining seed] @ Panthers (#2)

(Division Championship)
[lowest numbered remaining seed] @ [highest numbered remaining seed]

Super Bowl:
[AFC Champion] vs [NFC Champion]
Scoring: Players will get a point for each correct advancement predicted, regardless of the matchup it was in. For example, if they predicted X to beat Y, but instead X beats Z, they still get the point because what matters is that X won.
If a tiebreaker is needed it will be determined by who predicted the most correct matchups. That is where Y and Z would come in.

Now, this is where things get a little confusing. Because the Cumulative Pool is still on, the people in that need to continue posting their picks each week, even if they submit a bracket. Their bracket picks cannot count for their pool picks because they may incorrectly predict a matchup.

So:
If you’ve just been doing the Weekly Pool, you are now done.
If you’re in the Cumulative Pool, continue posting your picks as usual.
If you are doing a Playoff Bracket, whether you played either pool or not, submit your fee now.

Post them here. :)

My bracket:
*removed*
I think I filled it out wrong though. Shouldn’t the #1 seeds face the worst team (highest seed) left at their round?

Yeah, you need to switch the first team in all four Divisional games.

Like this:
< Colts (#4) @ Broncos (#1)
> Bengals (#3) @ Patriots (#2)

> Saints (#6) @ Seahawks (#1)
< Packers (#5) @ Panthers (#2)

Then you'll need to revise who gets to your NFL championship game.

Okay, thanks! That probably changes who I advance then though. I’ll redo it.

My instructions in the blank bracket were backwards. I fixed them.

It depends on how you look at it.

Is #6 the "highest" seed, because it's the highest number?
Is #1 the "highest" seed, because it's the top seed?

That's where the confusion came in, I think. ;)

... I have no idea. :P Playoff seeding has always confused me. When I originally wrote the instructions, since I copied them from last year's thread, I probably meant 'highest' as 'top' seed, but when following them here I interpreted 'highest' as 'largest' number. Yeah, that must be it. So from here on, since we have a separate description, 'top', to indicate team level, 'highest' and 'lowest' will simply mean number-wise. I will go change last year's blank bracket as well so there is continuity.

Btw AE, don’t forget to make your weekly picks like Eugene did. Although I suppose for the Wild Card round, since all matchups are definite, your bracket picks could technically count as your weekly picks this one week, but you never know, someone may want to fill out a bracket differently than how they actually think the weekly matchups will resolve for some reason.

Consider those my weekly picks for the wildcard round. I'll post updated ones next week. \:D/

I'll go ahead and do the bracket, and yeah, this can count as my week one picks. ;) I'm I supposed to keep sending money to Ryder? I'm tired of having to go back so many pages to find his donation link. :noway:

I'm also just going to do an AWESOME BRACKET that probably won't actually happen. \:D/

AFC:
(Wild Card Round)
Chargers @ Bengals
Chiefs @ Colts

(Divisional Round)
Colts @ Broncos
Bengals @ Patriots

(Division Championship)
Bengals @ Broncos

NFC:

(Divisional Round)

49ers @ Panthers

(Division Championship)
Panthers @ Seahawks

Super Bowl:
Bengals vs Seahawks

Since I'm obviously wrong on this, I thought of re-enacting the Bengals past two Super Bowl appearances and giving them a rematch with the 49ers, or letting the Panthers go to the SB so it could be a CAT BOWL, but, meh, Seahawks are tough.

No, there is no more money flowing from here out, to Ryder or anyone else. The only Pool still going is my Cumulative one, which only had a one time fee. :)
