ToO Fantasy Football - Pick Six Clique

Old thread; use current one :)

If there's something on your mind that just doesn't seem to fall into any of the other categories, well, it quite likely belongs inside Joe Finneman's marketplace. Think of it as a general store for general discussions!

Congrats to Cheesehead on making the playoffs!

Last week of the regular season here's how it breaks down. BC, SK, and CC have been eliminated.

Mr Cheesehead is 9-5 and has secured a playoff spot as only 3 teams can tie him. With a win he secures the No. 1 seed.

WW, BB, AE, and TS are all tied at 8-6. For all 4 it's win and you're in. Where it gets complicated is if BB or TS or both lose.

So here go the scenarios:

IF TS and BB win the loser of AE/WW is eliminated.

IF TS wins and BB loses
-BB would win the tie breaker against AE
-BB would lose the tie breaker against WW

IF BB wins and TS loses
-TS would lose the tie breaker against AE
- TS and WW split the season series so I think the second tie breaker is total points which TS currently has a 33 point advantage in.

IF TS and BB lose it's a mess.

I was able to figure out it's win and in, I didn't try figuring out the tiebreakers because I knew you'd post the breakdown. Thanks KF!

As is fitting we will have Packers vs Lions and First Champ vs New Guy in the finals.

I'm a bit disappointed with how my game went, I'll give details when I get that press conference posted, but it is what it is.

Go Cheeseheads! Keep the streak alive!

And we have a repeat champion. \:D/

As has been the case every season the champion has started a player from the Broncos in the championship.

I was prepared to come here salty on Almanzo's behalf noting his star playing left with injury because it was projected to be a super close match then, but it turned out in the end that didn't make a sufficient difference in the outcome so that's good.

Meanwhile though, for the second year in a row I barely miss making the championship game in a semifinal loss I thought I really should have won, then put up a score in the last game that would have won the trophy easily, so I have some salt of my own. :|

But congratulations AE. We had to have a repeat champion eventually, it's fitting you're the first. You were the first ever, so it's the longest streak to cycle around, and now you get to have a trophy in your case because we didn't have one back in the first year.

As announced, American Eagle is the ToO's 2016 Fantasy Football champion! \:D/

Although I didn't make very many posts in this thread, I would say I was more engaged in this season than any previous year. There was a tremendous amount of parity in the league this year, evidenced by the fact that four teams finished with the best record at 9-6 and three other teams also had an opportunity to make the playoffs in the final few weeks.

In the end, the championship game came down to myself, American Eagle, who narrowly took down bookworm in the semifinal, and Almanzo, who had handily defeated Knight Fisher in the semifinal due to a remarkable week of 143 points. Despite entering the week projected to lose to Almanzo, AE was able to cruise to victory largely thanks to a huge performance from his defense, which he had picked up from free agency that week.

Other notes:
bookworm claimed the Winner's Consolation Ladder victory.
Eugene II, who had struggled during the season with league-worst record of 3-12, roared back at the end who win his final two games and claim the Consolation Ladder bracket victory.

Thanks for playing, everyone! You all seemed very active this season. I checked scoreboards throughout the year and didn't notice many people starting players on bye weeks or injuries. I hope you all play again next season!! \:D/

Playoff competition group created!

(I had trouble signing in with Firefox, but Chrome worked.)

Please don't play inactive guys just to stack multipliers, that makes it absolutely zero fun. I want a regular just pick the best players each week game. Just like we've been doing all year. Why does that not exist?
Anyway I'll be scoring manually this year, discounting multipliers. So if you pick everyone on bye the first round *gives Laura a look* you lose.

Edit:

Actually, you know what, let's play it both ways. Everyone enter one set that you'll pick however you want and it will score by site rules, and another where you pick from the active players each week and I'll score by individual performance unrelated to anything that came before or after. I think that will be fun. :)

Edit Edit:

It appears the same person can't actually have multiple picks in this game. That's really disappointing.

Hey, that's just strategy, that more people than I have employed over the years. :noway: Didn't Knight Fisher win by picking all Broncos and Panthers from the beginning last year?
Anyway, how about a compromise of setting a limit to how many bye players you can choose that first week. Sound fair? Say maybe 3-4?

I'm not saying it's not a valid strategy for playing the game designed by the site rules, but that game is not the game I want to play. All I have wanted, since we started doing this, is an extremely simple 'here are the players playing this week, pick the ones you think will do the best' and that's it. Like I said exactly what we've been doing all year already, but without a roster, everyone picks whoever they want each week. It's so ridiculously simple I don't know why no such game exists on any website.

Anyway just pick whatever you want, I'm not going to enforce an arbitrary limit. I am extremely bummed the two picks idea won't work out, I thought that was the prefect solution, but whatever. I'll try to think of something for next year.

Welp I'm going all in on 3LI. Mainly in the hope that him going on to beat Brady again is fate so that the Packers get knocked out.

Does the old thread need to be bumped every single year? I was literally going to ask AE to post the new one tomorrow.

Ah I think we went over this last year. AE or you do a bunch of stuff in the first thread usually so I try to avoid starting it. Plus didn't we go ahead and delete these conversations in the last thread?

Yes, it's good you let one of us start the new thread, but doing that doesn't require bumping the old one, you could send a pm to ask if we'll be posting soon. :P
