Football Pool III
Ran by SWA until Ryder takes over.
Hmmm... Well, since you made that pick in your real life pool, I'll let it count. And if I had done my picks this week I would have let you know that you were missing one, but I didn't have time. So anyway, here are the new results...
Bookworm - 9 correct (GB - TCS 40)
KF - 8 correct (MIN - TCS 54, I'll let you change it this once, but next time once you make your pick, that's how it stays)
SWA - 8 correct
Top - 8 correct
AE - 7 correct
Steehl - 6 correct

I PMed mine but its 34 if anyone cares.
Oh, and what was that other money you sent me for Ryder? You said it was for winning, but you didn’t say which week. Was it Week 7 when you and I were tied?

This is a doubly rare moment. Not only do I have no issues with the officials this week, but I actually have the desire to praise them!
They got a call in the Saints/Falcons game so perfectly right that it renewed my faith in them. Just that one officiating team though, not officials in general.
Mike Cox was running for an important first down, was tackled short, and stretched out across the line, appearing to make it. They mark it a first down, but then review it.
In replay, the ball clearly comes out as he stretches across the line, after he had caught it. So it shouldn’t be an issue of whether it was a catch or not, the issue is that he didn’t make the first down.
After some discussion, the referee announced the call, and it was exactly right. They could have said many things. They could have called it an incomplete pass when the ball came out, but that would have been wrong. They could have called him down before the fumble, giving him the first down, but that would have been wrong. No, they made the absolutely correct call. He did complete the catch, then fumbled as he stretched the ball out. So it was a fumble out of bounds, moving the ball back to the spot of the fumble, which was where he had caught it, which was short of the first down.
I have to commend the officials for taking the time to make sure everything was decided correctly. Many times they’ll get the ultimate call correct, but not some of the details. Most of the time that’s minor, but sometimes it can have big consequences. But here, they got every little part totally right, which is only proper in such a close game.
And another thing I must praise them on is their decision to review the play in the first place. Because the game was in overtime, the coaches can’t challenge. (That’s a whole different issue that perhaps I’ll go into another time.) So if they hadn’t decided the play was worth another look, the Falcons would have gotten away with one there, and it could have changed everything.

Right, and what about DJ Moore being the only one kicked out of the Bears/Lions game? Even though Stafford started it. And a bunch of guy hopped on Moore. And the only penalty on the play was on Moore. Even though there was also a late hit out of bounds, that should of been called on the Lions. And the fact that Suh ripped off Jays helmet intentionally, and was not penalized. Yet Lance Briggs was and he led with the shoulder.bookworm wrote:This is a doubly rare moment. That's because Stafford and Suh are superstars. You don't penalize superstars.Knight Fisher wrote:Right, and what about DJ Moore being the only one kicked out of the Bears/Lions game? Out of all 7 players, I was the only one to correctly pick the Broncos. Tebow is my hero.

Yeah that was coming. But he will lose to Da Bears! Unite behind them so we don't have a Tebow Super Bowl MVP.

Well, anything that keeps the Jets away from the wildcard spot is fine by me.
