Touch Typing

How fast can YOU type?

If there's something on your mind that just doesn't seem to fall into any of the other categories, well, it quite likely belongs inside Joe Finneman's marketplace. Think of it as a general store for general discussions!

I'm sure you'd have no trouble keeping up the pace for 3 minutes, Shadowpaw. ;)

Ok, this is the absolute limit. As soon as my download que (sp?) empties (only about 30 more files) I'm going to go get that full Java thingy, not just the runtime, and do that test on a keyboard that I'm faster on.

I learned how to type using Mavis Beacon also! \:D/ I used version 2.0 and I recently saw version 14. :anxious:

I really should go try that typing test again... even though the conditions are still as poor as last time. :anxious:

Edit:
Hmm... 66 words per minute is better. :- I'm still looking forward to a better result, although I fear I'll never hit that 100 mark. :thud: I've only hit it in Mavis Beacon when I had 9 letters or ten keys. (a s e d f j i k l ;)

I look forward to seeing your results, Me. I expect your score to beat the current Top Typist of the week. ;)

My typing rate would probably be slower if I only had 9 or 10 letters to hit. :anxious:

Good, then I'll bask in my 110 WPM on Mavis Beacon. \:D/

Lol. Of course. It's just because I spend all day on the computer. I never have to eat, sleep, go to school, or anything!

Yeah. The downloads haven't finished yet. Maybe tomorrow.

It sure is. The download I need to finish is 90% done. It's going rather slowly, so I'm going to start the Java download now.

Tis started. Is around 100mb. Give it a couple of hours.

Yes it did. I'll install it now.

*is still recovering from the shock of the DSL going out earlier today, with no 56k backup.*

It installed. I think I have to reboot though. I'm tired, so the reflexes may be down. I'll still give it a go if it works though. Will be trying as soon as the beast comes back up.

Ok, I forgot to update (excuese the double post). I tried it that night when I was so tired that I was literally having trouble seeing straight. The good keyboard only brought me up 1 or 2 wmp. I did the next day, when more refreshed, and score 65. 10wpm improvement. Amazing what a keyboard can do.

Was it the keyboard or the fact you took the test in the morning? ;)

I just took a one-minute typing test and scored the following:

Tigers in the Wild
Gross Speed: 109 WPM
Errors: 7 words
Net Speed: 102 WPM
Accuracy: 93%

What throws you off is when you type a word wrong, press space, and try to correct the word. It just gets worse from there. :x

No kidding.

And yes, it was the keyboard. I had to get up early that day too, go to class, etc, and didn't take the test until 3:00pm.
