Kopimism: the world's newest religion

This is either an incredibly elaborate loophole or an incredibly disturbed group of people.

Oh My word, that is ridiculous. I hope thats a joke....

Excerpts from statements by Kopimists:

“For the Church of Kopimism, information is holy and copying is a sacrament.”

“The community of kopimi requires no formal membership, you just have to feel a calling to worship what is the holiest of the holiest, information and copy.”

It's definitely an elaborate loophole, but the sad part is that Sweden recognized it. But whatever. It's interesting, if nothing else.

It’s just so bizarre. And a little disturbing if these people actually believe in worshiping ‘information’ like that.

But I don’t see how they could have been officially named a religion. A religion is by definition a set of beliefs concerning a deity, and Kopimism’s founder himself says they have no deity. It doesn’t work.
And they claim to believe that the Ctrl+C command is holy. If there’s no deity, how can something be holy? Things aren’t intrinsically holy or sacred, those traits come from a deity and are passed to things.
It doesn’t add up at all, this has to just be an elaborate ploy to get away with piracy on grounds of religious freedom.

Are you just trying to make a point, or is this religion for real?
